We are a family of 5 and just about to purchase an Abbey Aventura 330 at approx 7.2m long.
Now i believe that is pretty common size now. First place we try and book make a play on the size of the van, followed up by the place i wanted to store it having no space for it.
Am i letting myself in for problems or is this just an unfortunate start .
I think the storage place were put off by me explaining i am new to the whole adventure , they then asked if i had a motor mover, when i said no they then informed that they had no space although the website states 3 available.
In other words, It will be very hard to take your caravan in with your car, and guess it will be very tight getting the van in, This tells me also the van might get damaged by other folk getting there vans in and out.
------------- Roughing it in style at Calloose caravan and camping holiday park nr St Ives.(seasonal pitch)
Its not a hangover, its wine flu!
We have a 26ft van and have never had any problems with booking a site. I am often asked for the size of the van but am found a pitch. We only started caravanning last August but in the 8 times we went away have we only found 1 site whose pitch was a bit small, meaning the car was slightly over the pitch boundary.
You'll be fine
------------- Caravanners do it with a stabilizer!
I has a similar problem with storage, many do "pack them in" and the advertised spaces may have only taken a small van or boat.
With respect to site pitches, my van is nearly 8m and have never failed to get a pitch, although I always mention the size where pitches are allocated for you. Have only seen I site that would not take van of my size and a couple stating "no twin axle vans" but never wanted to stay on those sites in any case! Have paid extra for a large pitch in one case.
I thinks thats around the same size as mine, only one has the size been a bit iffy, we stayed on a Haven site once and i opted for a standard pitch whilst they tried to sell me a super bigger one, I soon knew why my back end was hanging over into the pitch behind and my A frame was in the rd & it was bloody tight getting it onto the pitch.
Hi Mick, the length of your van should not cause any problems on either of the Club's sites. The only issue I've had was at Delamere Camping and Caravan Club booking first time, if I entered length of my van as 7.95m it says van is too long, if I enter as 26 foot no problem; we're talking millimetres, and definetly no problems for the wardens when we arrive.
