Some friends have a Lunar with seperate TV points front and back and although they've used them once so kids can watch something at the back, they found it too distracting having different TV programs on, albeit at each end of the van.

...in my infinite wisdom I decided to buy a cheap TV/DVD combi LCD from Curry's ... False economy!!

We have a cheapo Tesco own brand which stays in the van and it's a suprisingly good picture with excellent viewing angle. So cheap doesn't necessarily mean false economy; careful and critical selection in the showroom, as the one criteria I had was decent viewing angles and resolution.

I am going to get shot for this but we have 4!! . One 19" at the front lounge on an arm that will then swing round to the side dinette if needed. The other three are 9" picture frames that have a built in freeview/media players and these are mounted in the kids triple fixed bunks.I hooked them up to the main aerial. They are worth their weight in gold for that extra 45 mins in the morning. They have their own headphones so don't disturb each other.

Hi Chrissie, I remember the days when were under canvas and we used to hear snoring from all directions...but nothing was as annoying as the zips. Every time someone went to the loo, the zips would go up and down and then you'd know they'd be back a few minutes later and then they'd go up and down again. And that was just in our tent!

Hi! Alison, Now that is very true, I wonder if you heard my Bob the snoring bit, as we had a t.t years ago the old Concraft spindley legs, but I was smaller then and our kid was 3yrs now he is 44 in July. he stills snores the same. never told me that before I married him. Should of asked his 2 brothers as all 3 slept in the same room.

As for zips they still do get on your nerves during the night. What gets me is the tenters have to use the facilies if they have no other means. But the caravans at night-time there is no reason for them to make such a racket at night.

What about those that meet someone coming or going and a conversation starts off by grumbling they had to get up, that ends up with shrills of haggley laughter at about 3am. Then when they get nearer to their own unit its silence all round. Lovely, never actually shouted at them to shut up and go back to sleep. But I have heard a quite a few mumble or groans about them.

The washing up place is good for that gossip of "did you hear" yak yak at 3am this morning. I wonder if anyone, who has done it gets the message.Did I hear a NO!

Zips aren't confined to tents. Many caravanners go to the toilets at all hours and, if they have an awning, you still hear the zips.  One thing I noticed in France; lots of the Continentals only fit one half of front and one end to their awnings, so they are "open plan" and no zips at work to get to the toilets.

Bertie.

I went on a tenting holiday years and years ago with a girlfriend.  We did the entire Cornish coast just about in two weeks, stayed a night here, and a night there, and followed the roads as closed to the sea as we could.  For the first three days and nights of the hol it rained every day and night, and when we reached the Lizard my then girlfriend decided that she had had just about enough of the constant wet stuff and broke down in tears.

When I asked her what the problem was, I couldn't tell exactly what she was saying, quite upset bless her, but in amongst the things she was telling me was included the fact that the couple in the nice warm caravan next to us even had a spider plant in the front window Lol.  What luxury.

The sun came out the next day for the rest of the break, and it turned into a cracker of a break.

Never heard any one else since cry about a spider plant though.  Probably a first and last Chortle.
