I'm so very sorry to bug you all again, we are still on our unfruitful caravan search ( wishing hadn't sold the other now) anyway have seen an ad for a 2006 swift challenger 480 2 berth it's lovely, so I faithfully go to what to car and I can't find it, older ones and newer ones but not this 2006 one, the MIRO is 1229kg Laden weight 1406kg and will be towed by a 2002 TD4 freelander
Can someone help me? I'm having to do this on my own right now as my OH he isn't well, will my car tow this van?
Please help
Donna

Is your Freelander like this one? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201113383390059/sort/priceasc/usedcars/fuel-type/diesel/maximum-age/up_to_7_years_old/price-from/2000/model/freelander/make/land_rover/keywords/td4/radius/1501/page/1/postcode/m345de?logcode=p

If you click onto the 'Dimensions' tab it gives the min kerbweight as 1640kg so at 1406 the van would be 85.7%.

That's like it except it not a commercial everything is the same, so then that's ok then?
My OH is having a relapse so right now I'm trying to do everything without having to rely on him he needs to rest up, I'm going to be towing more than ever now, so I want to make sure I'm safe.

Just to be sure I'd browse around on autotrader to find one exactly the same model & year as yours - the models can vary.  We bought a Passat estate in January & they varied depending on spec, engine etc...  Shouldn't think it'd be massively different tho...

The recommended is 85% or less.  Ours ended up coming in at 83% but we'd have been happy to go up to about 87% max.

Good luck with the van - hope it works out for you.

Fingers crossed, serves me right for wanting an end bathroom, starting to think my lunar was lovely and wondering why I sold it!!!
