any tips please you can give us before we go and have a look? we have a friend who has a caravan who is willing to come and have a look after we have if we are interested. many thanks
and then decide. but on first seeing I would say its a good buy priced right and advertised as if its a genuine private sale eg details badly written in advert not the sort of thing a trade seller would do.
advice go along asap if you like it offer a deposit of £50 subject to an experienced opinion in a day or two. if its not for you then you just loose £50 by walking away rather than six plus grand.
I personally would be wary. How can an advert not say the make & model of the caravan???
The door looks a long way back for fixed bed van unless it is a transverse bed. If it is a transverse bed, they are harder to make & not quite as easy to get out of if you are the person further away from the door compared to a longitudinal bed that has a wider opening to the bed. However this has to be offset by the fact that the bed takes up less space in the van.
Also check carefully for spongy sections of wall & floor inside 'van, check around windows, joints & inside shower compartment particularly. Even 'vans of this age can be badly damp.
It would also be good if there was a service history showing annual service & damp check. I don't think it is that cheap tbh.
advise you take my advice its a swift signature that model books at 7K private 7.5K forecourt. then you have mover awnings (2) cover flush toilet TV facility fore and aft etc etc etc as in ad all included in asking price that makes the bare van priced at 5.5K . its priced right and well. if its wa wrong un Ill eat me hat. simple phone call to the seller has confirmed my thought. "and value"
only a fool would part with more than 3k without HPI but then some do but on the risk scale its a 500-1 bet to risky, always HPI its only £20 ish.
thanks everyone for the advice, we are going to look at it later and if its any good get a caravan engineer to give it an inspection for us before we decide. Its a shame that when you buy from a dealer you dont get any extras but get the peace of mind, very tricky. thanks again everyone, will let you know. collecting the new car on Wednesday!
Look here - seven posts down. Some pointers I posted some time ago on the legals of buying a van.
Hope it helps
