Hi Kevin, I think that was the stuff mentioned on here last year. Get your own back on the midges, have a good drink of whisky, and when they bite, they fall down drunk, worth a shot.

Hi leccyshep,
Thanks for your feedback - We have decided to do the run to Loch Lomond in one go and not stay overnight and as you suggested, have a comfort break at Arnadale Water, however I cannot locate it using Google.
Is this the same place as the "Hamilton Services" near J7 of M74? I zoomed in on this spot and there looks to be some caravans parked-up at the south end of the services, on opposite side to the car parking area.
Although I live in South Tyneside my van is kept in storage at Sedgefield so would it be worthwhile my cutting off what appears to be a large corner i.e. not using the A1M then A69, but instead using the A68 to join the A69 at Corbridge instead? What road do you use from Durham to get onto A69.
Kevin

No, Hamilton Services is further North, near junction 6. Also theres a new Tesco with petrol at junction 10 Lesmahagow.......easy off and on the 74.
It's too early for midges......first hatch is usually first week in June.
Hi, there is also a caravan site in the strathclyde park, If you need stop over, it is just past Hamilton Services cut off, slip road to left, go right on roundabout and take 4th exit on left,Park starts at the Roundabout,(15MPH in park and speed bumps, site1/2 in on left.) Leaving Park, turn left onto roundabout, follow round to right and take 3rd exit on left, that puts you back on the M74 North bound. (Only if you need a campsite.)

we go up the A68 to get to the A69, but then we're only 5mins from the 68 to start with.
arnadale services are the only one's we've stopped at on the way up so i can't really vouch for other services, but they have decent caravan bays there although we had to stop in the truck bays once when the place was heaving.
