What product do you use on your caravan toilet?
I'm not sure if you can use household products or not. We have always used cleaning wipes, but we have just come back from a fantastic week away and there is a slight smell to the toilet area. (this could however be due to my youngest being a bad aim into the pot)
Advice on what cleaning products you use inside your van general would also be appreciated.

I use the toilet wipes too, and a bottle of multi purpose spray for just about everything else.
The one I have at the moment is a cheapie, picked up at the garage on the way to the site , brand name is Duzzit,(I think I've seen these in poundland or 99p shops) multipurpose or multi surface disnfectant spray , quite a pleasant fragrance too.

Some reckon you should only use special caravan products on the plastics , but I have always used the usual spray stuff I'd use at home.

Great to hear you use household cleaning products, does anyone else? I have flash bathroom cleaner does anyone know if it "damages" the plastic that the sink and toilet are made from.

I bought a spray of caravan bathroom cleaner and it's very good for all the plastic, leaves it nice and shiny and smells OK. You want to be careful with household ones because even the creams can scratch a plastic surface and once that happens it's not so easy to keep clean.

Other than that, for everyday use, I use the cleaning wipes, but make sure they're OK to use on plastic.

I always use household products. Just a general purpose anti bacterial. Never had a problem.

i use fenwicks top and tail and fendox antibacterial cleaner spray bottle.if smell is stronger just add more to the bottom container,as you flush you also strengthen the tank fluids.found out warmer weather days is worst for smells so i add more liquid.

If the smell is from the holding tank, Thetford do a special casette cleaner which is very effective.

The smell could also be from the basin or shower drain pipes, so cleaning them could help.

If your Wastemaster is smelly, Thetford also have a cleaner for that. And a little dribbled down the drains occasionally will keep them fresh too.

We use the Thetford and Fenwicks products rather than household cleaners, but I do use the antibacterial surface wipes as well.

Parazone wipes for the bathroom, or even baby wet wipes if we have ran out, theres normally only the two of us, and hubby prefares to use the shower block loos, so it keeps our bathroom quite clean anyway.

For the kitchen surfaces, cooker and sink, we use flash multi-purpose, and the woodwork gets a flick over with a soft duster and a squirt of Pledge multisurface furniture spray.

Our cooker controls knobs sit on a sheet of 'satinized' Aluminum, its the only place i never seam to be able to get to look clean, even afer removing the control knobs and giving it a good bit of elbo grease with several different products, it still looks the same, drab and smeared. even tried using Hob-bright on it which works a treat on the cooker in our main kitchen, but no luck!

Got to be careful not to use cleaners which will attack seals and sealants - specifically rubber and silicon. This is not obvious, and builds up over time.

I use Fendox to clean the whole caravan inside including all the plastics in the bathroom. After that I use AutoGlym Super Resin Polish on all the bathroom plastics. It makes it shine really nice and also gives a protective coating which help to keep it clean.

Autoglym super resin is great for the shower cubical as well. It makes it a lot easier to clean down after a shower as the water beads off readily without leaving water marks. The downside is that it soon wears off with the use of hot water but in the summer I prefer luke warm water for shower anyway. I keep meaning to try the Autoglym extra gloss protection stuff but never remember to pack it in the caravan.

I use a combination of Fenwicks plastic cleaner, fenwicks toilet bowl cleaner and a burst here and there of Milton surface spray.
