Hi all,

Just bought our first caravan an Elddis Typhon ex300,been using a trailer tent for the last three years, I need help with finding out what size awning i need,in the book with the caravan the size say's 9050mm so could i use a size 10(8750-9000mm) or does it have to be a size 11 (9000-9250mm).

I was looking for a size 11 but came across someone selling a size 10 that came off a Typhon GT (circa 1996) 4 berth .

I need help.

this caravan malarky seems a lot more confusing then tenting but have to say one thing, i found it a lot easier to reverse the caravan then the trailer tent.

Thanks Barry...

Hi Barry. I see this is your first post so welcome to the site. Here you'll find a wealth of knowledge and plenty of people only too happy to help with any questions. Firstly, please do not be fooled by the so-called awning sizes (the 11/12 bit). Different manufacturers use different size numbers so you need to make sure it will fit. Assuming the book is correct, you will need one that covers the size quoted i.e. 9050mm. Measuring is easy if you want to make doubly sure. All you need is a piece of string and a tape measure. Feed the string through the awning rail from the ground on one side, round the rail to the ground on the other. That will give you the size of awning you require. There is a website you can also use HERE which if you put in the details will give you this measurement.

Hope you enjoy your caravanning.

Pete

Thank you for the help, went to the link from pete but when i put in 9050 it say's no matches but if i put in 900 then my model comes up so do i need one that fits upto 900cm or the next one up, my thought is if you have to jack the left side to level the van then the 900cm will not touch the ground or do they take that into consideration.

Have not been out in the van yet as i could not keep it were i live so it's in storage 30 miles away at the moment can't wait to get away for a weekend, just have to find someone to look after the dogs first, and find the time the other half wants her decking finished before next weekend for a barbeque.

thank's again for your help

barry...
