Yes, the receiver needs the power - it sends power down the cable for the LNB...

I bought the same kit from Maplin 3 years ago & have been very pleased with it (Paid £45 for a B grade one, just a few scratches on the dish). I use an alignment meter I purchased from ebay for about £5. I use my sky box with it & after practice can now align it in less then a few minutes. The signal is always good. The only problem is the dish can move out of alignment in strong winds, which has been rare in the 3 years I've owned it. I've only ever used it in England though, it may struggle in Scotland or France.

Typical of Lidl though, get you in store & the good offers have sold out.

I too had a look at these as I have the system in a case bought at Maplins very similar to that being sold by Lidl and to be honest the Ross system is more suited to a permenant install. The dish has to be bolted together each time you want to use it which is a pain really where as the other system the dish screws together very easily without the need of any tools. I will stick with the system I have. I have had mine for 4 years now and it is a great bit of kit and only cost £60 I think and the receiver also has a built in sat finder as well

I don't use the case anymore and just carry the dish under one of the benches and the receiver and LNB/dish arm in the cupboard and it takes up no space at all.

I got the portable one from B&Q £69.98 mainly because it has an easyfind LNB I've not used it yet but I always struggled to get a signal using various signal finders with my previous system. Has anyone else got this one and are they happy with it.
