This may be a silly question but i don't have the answer so thought i would ask!!
We currently have a folding camper and all the crockery, cutlery etc stays in the cupboards for the season and only taken out and put away in the loft during the winter. We have never had anything break as i generally put small cushions in the cupbaord when we are towing but wondered how this all works with a caravan. Do you leave everything in the caravan or do you take everything out as a friend seems to taken everything out after each trip.
With us, when I'm not selling the van from under the Mehim Sahib, she leaves everything packed in the lockers for instant use. It doesn't do any harm at all.
I keep everything in like that in the caravan all year round. i have plastic trays with places for plates cups bowles ect to keep them safe. when traviling i ave place mats nappkins pot towels ect round the dishes ` I dot see why they need to come in i only bring in soft furnishing and food stuff. starts of season i brink cutlery and crockery in and give it a good wash at home but thats just once a year at teh start of the season when the van been stood over winter. Theres no reson to bring any of it in and store it in the houes that i can see

It's nice to be important but its more important to be nice
Thanks for the quick replies. Fallen angel that is generally what we did with the folding camper and after a really windy weekend away in the camper and having to cut short our holiday due to the wind and having no sleep because of the canvas flapping around we have gone and bought a caravan!!!!
Only things you need to take out of a caravan in winter is anything that would be damaged by the contents freezing - cosmetics, food, cleaning products etc.
------------- * You never know where you're going 'til you get there...
I mean in general would you be leaving your plates, cups etc in the cupboards when travelling as a friend takes hers out of the cupboards and puts them in them foldaway crates and puts them on the floor then puts them in the cupboards when she gets to the site. At the end of their stay she then takes everything out of the cupboards and puts them back into the foldaway crates on the floor before leaving the site as she said you can't leave them in the cupboards which i thought was a bit strange!!!
If there's anything heavy in the top cupboards then I move it, but otherwise everything stays where it is seems daft to move stuff every time. We have melamine plates, cups and bowls but we also have proper mugs, I put these in a drawer with tea towels so that they can't fall out of a cupboard and damage anything, the saucepans live under the cooker so they're happy where they are. I just arrange cupboard space so that I don't have to move everything!
Our melamine stuff all travels in the top cupboards, at first we put it all away but then thought better of it. The toaster, kettle and knife block along with some food and wine travels in the under sink cupboard with the awning wedged against it. We put other bits in a storage box under the bunks like the proper mugswhich I just wrap in tea towels. Like fallenangel it all comes out at the end and beginning of season for a good wash at home and then back in.

winter time ,i take all out that can freeze or go damp, including cushions.remove all papers and towels that a little mouse can make a nest with.i plastic bag up all bedding and pillows and seal it, then place it in the loft along with the cushions.leave fridge door open always duing winter.even toilet fluid will freeze.take out all tv and sky boxes and any other high value things.other times just the high value bits.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Everything stays in the van , melamine plates ect up top, kettle toaster ect down below, the only thing we take out after each trip is the tv things of value clothes bedding and towels, chuck them in the washing machine ( not tv lol ) then back it all goes again for next time , winter time Stuff that perishes/freezes gets taken out but we tend to caravan all year if we can so it mainly gets left.If for some reason we are not caravanning over winter, the van gets emptied out, cushions seats ect to stop damp and mice houses appearing.
