Needless to say, my wife, children and I are absolutely devastated at the loss of our Hobby 495 UK De Lux Easy caravan which was stolen from outside of our house last Wednesday night.
I picked it up from the secure compound it is kept at after work and loaded it up with all of the childrens stuff, bedding, food stuffs, MY BEER!!! etc. Left it attached to the car on the Robstop hitch lock over night and it was gone when we woke up in the morning.
I cannot tell you how bad we feel, more for the loss of all of the girls stuff, but obviously the caravan which we loved. It was our first caravan which we brought back from Germany, but now regretting leaving it outside over night. In our naivety, we assumed being attached to the car it would be safe! The police point out that there are certain members of our community that love Hobbys. I dont think we can now bring ourselves to have another one, which is such a shame, as they are such great caravans!!
Just to add insult to injury, we have also discovered that we have well underinsured ourselves. We are at least £2000 short of being able to replace like for like. We will be much wiser if we are able to replace it with a new one. We just dont know what we are going to do. I am so loathed to let those thieving so and so s ruin our way of life and ruin the great fun our children have had over the last couple of years.
There...... thats feels marginally better now I have had a good moan!!

Gill that is a good idea, how do you upload a picture on here? We live in Church Crookham near Fleet in Hampshire. x
Gosh Im so sorry thats a terrible thing to happen and so unlucky as you only had it home for that one evening!!! Are there any erm unofficial campsites near to you that you are aware of - perhaps you could have a drive around them and see if you spot your van

I'm actually looking for one myself, I'll be keeping an eye out for yours while I am at it. Any distinguishing marks to look out for?
Inside, behind the seats at the rear there are extra plug sockets fitted (2 pronged) and the front skylight does not have a roller blind fitted. The rear one does. No distinguishing marks on the outside unfortunately. The hobby sun logos on the rear side look a bit tattered and ready to peel off, but apart from that in really good condition.
What a shame. It's so unfair when folk work & save hard for nice things then some scum decide they can just help themselves.
I really hope you get it back although I wouldn't recommend you visiting any 'temporary campsites' to look for it. There was a small one (5 vans on a plot of land near where I work a couple of weeks ago & when the police came to try to move them (private land) they came in 2 cars. Presumably because it wouldn't have been saf for just one car/2 guys.

Really sorry to hear your news :-(
I assume you're keeping an eye on ebay/autotrader/gumtree etc? What area are you in?
Church Crookham, Fleet in Hampshire, which I thought was a nice, fairly problem free area. How wrong was I? I now wont ever be so trusting. I still feel sick nearly a week later.
I'm so sorry, thieving B******s, makes me sick, work hard for everything and so and so's think it ok to steal.I've had two cars stolen and that was bad enough, and a caravan is even more personal , and all you little ones stuff in it to.
We are away this weekend and on our travels we will keep an eye out.
I'm truly so sorry :(
