just wondering how many caravans you have all had in your caravanning "career" i am thinking we have broken the record for amount of caravans in lenght of time....
in 5 years of caravanning we are now on to our 5th (yes 5th) caravan lol....
1 - swift rapide - 5 berth - a cheapy one to see if we were going to enjoy it
2 - bailey ranger - 4 berth - end washroom - nice but awful basic, so changed for.....
3 - abbey vogue - 4 berth - end washroom - newer caravan, posher, but hubby hated the bed making!!!!
4 - swift challenger - 4 berth - fixed bed - miniscule toilet - yes hubby says bed is great, but hates the cute wee toilet. so....... on way home from perth last weekend we drop into local dealer & spot caravan number 5.....
5 - coachman highlander - 4 berth - end washroom - & it is beautiful with lots of storage & modern. getting this weekend :-)
you have permission to put a restraining order on me & my hubby if you spot us anywhere near a caravan dealers lol...
after a tent Outwell Hartford XL Bought for £225 used six times sold £250
got into tin tents 2004 after many years on the darkside. (Hotels B&B etc)
1st van ABI bought for £150 sold after three trips for £225. loaned out twice
2nd van Ace bought for £200 sold after 2nd trip for for £250. loaned out twice
3rd van Crown Bought for £350 sold after 4th trip £250. loaned out six times
4th van present one (as in images on profile)
always sell on at what they have cost me, as I regard the use received as the profit margin. and like to see another person get the use at a starting cost, in the hope they will grow rather than test the water with a large outlay and poss Loss.
3 in 2 years
20 year old Bailey pageant cabriolet two berth given to us from an uncle, rotten as a pear but loved it
2005 lunar zenith four great van, but basic and the little loo and not much space.kept it for 11 months.
Present van is a 2006 swift challenger 480 two berth, end bathroom lots of room really modern and lots of luxury to it.
But I'm done now for a long time , this van is perfect for us :)
Started in 1999 with an Abbey County Oxford from 1994 (I think).
Bought new Abbey Spectrum 520 in 2000 (approx 9 months after buying the County Oxford which the dealer found damp in when we dropped off when part exchanging. Good of him not to chip the price!?!?!?!, but guess if we hadn't of come back so soon we would have ended up with a problem).
Part exchanged Spectrum 520 for Abbey Spectrum 620 in 2006 to accommodate growing kids. Love the 620, can't see why we shouldn't keep it until its time to downsize.
But guys, don't feel awkward chopping and changing; find what suits you then stick to it. We're talking about your very precious quality time so best to get it right!
1992 ABI dawnstar, 2007 Pageant Bordeaux and now a new Swift Charisma 550 (which we are VERY pleased with)
Funnily enough, even though the 550 is only 2 months old, the dealer sent me a text today announcing their "open for special deals" type days next weekend.
6 in 16 years, old Silverline from next door neighbours, swapped for some rubbish from up the road, Castleton Rosella which was old but good and a bargain, Elddis Whirlwind, swapped for new Swift Lifestyle and now our nearly new to us Sterling.
2007 - dome tent, it leaked, it went
2007 - Outwell Georgia XL + carpet and all the works!
2007 - Quechua base tent + 3 man pop up for quick weekends!
2008 - Dandy Destiny 'Doodle'
2009 - Esterel folding caravan 4 berth 'Ethelburt'
2010 - ABI Jubilee Ambassador 4 berth 'Agrid'
2011 - Compass Kensington 490/4 'Casper' - end washroom lovely!
