Just thought I would share with those of you that didn't know already, that Tesco will deliver your online grocery order direct to your campsite pitch!
As long as they have a store within a reasonable distance and an address and postcode to deliver to, they will do the hard work for you. Saves you doing it when you would rather be putting your feet up and relaxing!
We spent an hour one evening with our friends, doing a joint online order a few days before we left for Devon. We made sure that we put as much information in the instruction box to enable the driver to find us easily (Site name, pitch number etc).
We orderd enough food/drink for the 2 week holiday, then topped up fresh bread and milk at the site shop. It was a great success and we will do the same this year.
If you have any problems with the order ring the helpline, they are very helpful.
We regularly do this, it makes the arrival day so much more easy. When you say within a reasonable distance, we did a Scouting family camp for our visit to Brownsea island in 2007. We camped in East Lulworth and Tescos delivered from Poole, a considerable distance of about 30 miles as a round trip.

To LEGSDOWNKETTLEON, If you don't know your pitch number in advance, put your mobile no. on the order and the driver will ring you when arrives at the site.
Last year at Chy Carne meet,Tesco had to send three or four vans as there were that many deliveries for the Sat when everyone arrived, and had lot of deliveries on differant days.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
I'm one of those tesco delivery drivers, we have delivered to narrowboats also. Put down as much info to your whereabouts as possible, and a mobile number is a must (just pray you can get a good signal on site!)
We had Sainsburys deliver to us when we were at Cofton last year but they would not let them come to our pitch so they told us we had to meet the van at reception, right outside their own shop.
Don't think the site was too impressed so we may not be able to do it this time.

Andy
well they should lower their ridiculous prices

I have done this before, it's well worth the effort planning beforehand.
Lots of people came up and said "Oooh you are very efficient" and "What a good idea"
I can tell you now I am not efficient, just can't be bothered spending my holidays going shopping all the time and I refuse to pay campsite shop prices unless it's an emergency!
We do this all the time. The only problem we had is that postcodes in rural areas tend to be very spaced out. We stay at manor wood and the postcode brings you about 1/2 a mile away. Unfortunately there is very little room on the tesco website to give very much additional info to help the driver.
We had one delivery that went back to store because the driver couldn't find us and their printer had gone down so didn't have our telephone no or directions to call us to help. It was delivered the next day but we were not impressed as our Evening meal and breakfast was on board and I had already had a drink and couldn't drive for provisions.
We now make sure we also have a plan B loaded in the van For 1 day just in case!
I've never used the delivery service while being away in the van, but it seems an excellent idea to me - if I can just get the wife to agree to it. She likes to go and have a look. - I don't!
