Hi

We really need to get a waste water carrier with wheels, we only have the black square one and when it gets full my father-in-law struggles to carry it. Anyone got any recommendations? read a bad review of the waste hog saying the caps kept coming off and the wheels where bad.......... any suggestions please?!

thanks

You could get a trolley to carry your container rather than a waste hog?

Whatever you get do not get one that is too big. A large Aquaroll for fresh water is as easy to handle as the small one, but with the waste carriers like the wastemaster, the Royal one in the link above and the waste hog if you get them full then lifting them and moving can be a problem as you get a lot of water and so a lot of weight high up near the handle.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Fishing or shopping trolley. The shopping trolleys are cheaper but the fishing ones are a bit more heavy duty often, you can just bungee the waste containers on. Works a treat !

We use a sturdy little luggage trolley for our waste water container, it also doubles up to carry the loo casette when its full, its light and easy when folded, weighs less than a kilo, and cost around £14 from one of the online caravan shops (Robinsons I think) when we were first setting up our van equipment.

Idea 1 - don't let it get full.
Idea 2 - somebody else carries it for him.

Or is that over-simplifying it?

We also have one of these;

Royal Waste Warrior

A fair bit cheaper there. We think its good. As it comes with bungees, you can strap on the loo cassette and don't need an extra trolley. It also has retainers and slots for the caps so they don't get lost. Its sturdy and wheels quite well. 40 litres of water is heavy but at least you don't have to lift this on to a trolley to move it!

I'd go for a wastemaster.  Don't really know about the wastehog, but it looks alittle more bulky than the wastemaster.  If you find it awkward to move, then don't wait for it to get full to the top before moving.

We use Fiama 23 litre roll tanks, grey for waste and blue for fresh water,
They are very compact easy to move and to store on board.

The two most popular waste tanks are the 'Wastemaster' and the 'Waste Hog'. The Wastemaster is manufactured in one complete mould with the only separarted parts being the axle and wheels plus the 3 caps which makes it robust in design. Both the Wastemaster and Waste Hog are designed also for carrying your full cassette toilet to the chemical disposal point with ease but the Waste Hog has a drop down tray on hinges on top which is not that strong. The Wastemaster is a much better design than many others on the market and you can pick them up second hand for less than £20.

I had one of those that came with my caravan and in general it was fine I just found thethin metal handle a problem as it tended to come loose and let the tank fall when pulling it to the disposal point.

we have 50/50 ownership on the caravan with our in-laws, its fine when we are there to carry/empty things but the in-laws are obviously going out there without us and when we were all there before and the black square waste water carrier was even half full my father-in-law (who has bad back etc) struggled with it, just wanted to make life easier for them.....
