To get at the pivot pin you need to prop the light open. I use a kitchen towel roll on end. With a thin knife or screwdriver, prize out the cover on the opener end and you will be able to push the pivot towards the outside with a drift or similar. You do not need to push it all the way out, just enough to free the damper. The actuating rod unscrews from the shackle in the frame so no need to touch the bottom pivot. Replacement is the reverse, but of course you will be working against the presure of the new piston, but it is not a problem!
