As people are very quick to complain about poor service I thought I would take the time to tell you about some good service we have had.
We bought our van 2 years ago from one of the big dealers in the area and although their work was ok we have never been particularly happy with them. Their attitude to their customers was off hand at best and as it required a 90+ mile round trip each time we took the van in we decided to look for another dealer who would take on the warranty. The dealer we found was Popes Caravans at Biggleswade and what a difference, nothing was too much trouble. We took the van in when we wanted too, none of this you must bring it in at this time, they discussed what you wanted doing, asked if there were any problems and made you generally welcome. They picked up on a couple of little issues that had been there previously, one being a missing fuse (I remove the radio fuse when not in use as it drains the battery slightly when in storage). This, and various other little indicators, left me in no doubt that they had been very thorough in their work And when we went to pick it up they went over everything with us, including the damp test, and demonstrated the external BBQ point that they had fitted (at the exact price they had quoted). So anybody in the Biggleswade area who is looking for good service, these boys get my vote.
Very similar story to yourself-4 years ago bought our caravan new from a local dealer, great until we left the premises, then were useless!Reluctant to help,no after sales service at all,and downright rude at times! After many an arguement,we parted company with them.
Found another dealer in our area that would take us and our warranty on (bonus-closer to home lol).Couldn't be more different to our original one.Taking the caravan in for service/work is now a pleasure, not a dread.I literally used to have sleepless nights when it came time to take it into the original dealer!lol
So,big thumbs up here for Couplands Caravans in Louth,Lincolnshire.
Ahh, your from my neck of the woods, we live just off the A370 and have both Davan and Highbridge Caravans within spitting distance. Both have given us good advice over the years, and both go out of their way to help.
I recently purchased my caravan from Highbridge, and allthough their were a couple of minor problems with it they went out of their way and sorted everything effectively, quickly and honestly, it's all you can ask for with a second hand van.
My van's just had it's second service there and looks as good as new.
We used to have Mendip Caravans which were the closest to us, but they went bust a year or so ago. We had always used them up until that point but wasn't disapointed when we started using Davan and Highbridge.
