If it runs on electric then it will have a separate fused switch somewhere. From memory, 1994/95 is about when they started fitting electric water heaters, so you could be one of the last without or the first with it fitted.
If you can't find a switch something like the one below somewhere then it looks like it's gas only.
There is a switch on the side of the wardrobe - I don't know if it's separately fused anywhere ot not..... my OH says he'll have a proper look at the tank (he hasn't been very well) to see if he can suss out the wiring... this is doing my head in !
The switch has no flame symbol or anything on it. I assumed it would be powered by leccy... never thought about it properly - daft of me really.
Dammit - I only just saw that pic LDKO ! The carver switch looks nothing like that (that one looks much like a standard immersion heater one doesn't it ) so I suppose ours is just gas - bu##er !!!
I guess that probably explains why it didn't heat up as the gas wasn't switched on ! Pmsl
Carver introduced the 'option' of mains electric water heating in 90/91, electric room heating in 95, so being optional, all depends if it's actually fitted?.
As far as water is concerned, if it has, you will find a white plastic box sticking out of the insulation jacket of the water tank. If this is there? then you will also find a cable leading to the control switch similar to the one in legsdown's picture
