Hello, 2 weeks to go until we collect our new caravan, but ringing round for insurance, the wheel lock and hitch lock are not enough - we need a security post, tracker or alarm.....

Which do you have and which is the cheaper option!??

Many thanks,
Emma.

Try the C&CC or the C.C neither of them require a security post or tracker .
Both clubs also give a discount if your van has ATC and the C.C only require a minimum of either Hitchlock or Wheel clamp not both but if you use both you get a better rate .
If your also getting a ALKO wheel lock you get a better rate than just a standard wheelclamp

I just have standard as it give's you new for old up to 3 years of age , and if you keep the van past 3 years just upgrade to Super which give you new for old up to 10 years of age if you want .

go for the super  with CClub, new for old up to 10 years of age.be warned if you do not have it serviced on date over 5 years old you will lose your super cover.we did. two locks required, wheel clamp and hitch lock.if you have alarm or other security devices fitted you also get more off.

Caravan Gaurd insurance only require a Hitchlock and a Wheel clamp, but they give good discounts if you have other things fitted such as a security post, Tyron bands, Tracker, or Alko Stabilizer.

Julia, I think it depends on the model of caravan and location with Caravan Guard as I was told I had to have the Alko Secure locks fitted on both axles on my 'van as well as a hitch lock and a tracker. The discounts came with additional security on top of these such as wheel clamps on the other wheels, ATC etc.

We used to be with caravanguard with our old van and all they wanted was a wheel clamp and hitchlock.  When we bought our new van they then wanted hitching post tracker etc.  I then phoned the cc and all they required was on locking device.  As well as a hitchlock we also use a pair of alko secure locks, but we don't claim the discount just in case the one time we don't fit them the van gets nicked.

we've only got a hitchlock and wheelclamp (both insurance approved) and got what we thought was an excellent price with new for old up to 10yrs old with the C&CC. The cover was better and the price lower too.
