Our nearest neighbour on our current site has a lovely Avondale Argente and we are jealous! however, as Avondale have gone out of business, what does one do about servicing? under the terms of our current insurance, and the warranty, the caravan has to be serviced by an approved dealer. And what about obtaining parts?
Dunno about warranty but an Avondale has same chassis & interior fittings, cooker/fridge etc, as any other caravan so any caravan workshop or mobile fitter can service it using off shelf parts.
Thanks, however, under the terms of our current insurance, servicing has to be done by an approved dealer. I would like to go cheaper with a mobile fitter, but as I understand it, this would invalidate the warranty.
My sister has bought a 2007 Avondale Argente 550 4 and it is gorgeous , so roomy , and well laid out, I'm jealous lol, I don't know about servicing ect but apparently it's not to hard to find parts ect for it, most caravans use the same fixtures and fittings, like a grab handle had cracked so she bought a new one at the caravan shop.
I think they are great :D

Avondale caravans don't have a factory warranty as the company have gone bust, so you would have no balance of the 6yr water ingress cover as with other makes. For this reason you would expect to buy a late model secondhand for far less than say equivalent Swift or Bailey. For normal servicing parts interior & exterior you would have no problems but I don't know about body panels in case of accident damage tho.
Tentz does make a good point on body panels I did wonder about this myself , I suppose if it got damaged you might be able to source the bit from a beakers, and as tentz says you can get the van for a good price, my sisters was a bargain!!!! Alot less than my 2006 swift was.

i would think as Tentz says because of the avondale factory bust the warranty or any warranties are no longer viable. unless someone has agreed to take them over.

I always get muddled with this. Warranty is with the manufacturer, but the customer has to deal with the dealer who has some legal obligation? Phil will know.
Whatever the case, I wouldn't hold out much hope for the warranty now.
If you buy from a dealer you should get a warranty from them if it is a late model & they have their obligation under law. If Avondale gave a 6yr water ingress warranty that was transferable that will be now non existant. Caravan makers require annual approved workshop service to maintain water ingress warranty.
Avondale went bust about 3yrs ago, I think. I would say buy with confidence if price reflects fact that maker is no more There will be no problem with routine service issues as chassis & interior fittings/equipment are common to any other caravan.

Part of the factory has been taken over by Raymond James (retail/service caravan company). Some of the folk who worked for the old Avondale company now do caravan servicing for Raymond James. Only 5 miles south of us. If anyone wants advice on Avondale's they could be the people to contact.
