I need to unhitch my caravan and push it into my drive but I have never moved a caravan before. My missus would guide it in using the handles on the back but do you think we would be able to do it being just the 2 of us?
It's do able me and hubby did it for a long time, he pushed I pulled, and our drive is on a slight incline, but then a change of health made it so we had to get a mover , and have to say now best thing we ever did, it's just to easy, and we can get it even tighter into it parking spot on our drive, if you can get a mover you won't regret it, and should you change the van ever you can transfer it to that one.
But as I said if your van isn't to heavy it's do able.
Mind you we used to argue a bit when we did Lol lol

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
I assume that you can't revers it on with your car. Caravan movers are great but also come at great cost. The cheapest type fits on you hitch and there is often quite a few on Ebay. The bargin basment option would be a winch anchered at the top of your drive EXAMPLE WINCH
yes one man can move a van on his own, but as said above how steep an incline and the type of floor your pushing on, but if you suffer from and back leg or arm pains id get amover as they are quite heavey.

Is it a Series 7. If so, it's only just a bit lighter than our Sancerre - not that much in it. Two of us can just about move our van on flat even ground - and my wife can help quite a bit with the pushing/pulling etc. Generally we prefer to use the motor mover.
You can do it if you use blocks or bricks. Put a block/brick in front of each wheel. Push front of van to one side and reposition the block on the wheel that has moved away from the block/brick. Repeat pushing front of van the opposite way. Continue this 'till van is where you want it.
I have moved our van up a slope this way by myself, but it is much easier if you have someone to move the block/brick for you.
Is it not possible to reverse your van onto your drive at all? even if you could back it on some of the way, it would reduce the amount of manual handling you'd have to do.
I wouldn't be without our mover, but if it were to fail I wouldn't want to try to push our van onto the drive. To be honest, I can reverse our van in if I wanted to anyway but as we park it noe in first I choose to use the mover from the roadside to avoid me having to shuffle vehicles around to get the towcar out if I drive it in from the road.
It may seem easy to move the van alone on a flat surface but even getting a caravan up over the slightest obstacle could cause you problems. I've seen movers advertised for good prices, I think it was in the C&CC magazine, you may be better off having one.
Hi,easier way than pushing van back, is push on A frame with hand brake on,push A frame to left then right, van brake will be on the opposite wheel from the one reversing,(walking the van)less effort, need to have room at the sides at rear of van for the swing, if none of the other suggestions are an option, mover could be your best way to go,added bonus would be no slipping on wet grassy sites with car, just engage mover at van will move off.

If in Doubt Check it Out.
Thanks for the replies. The drive is quite narrow and this is our 1st van so to begin with we may not be very good at reversing. We will have to giveit a try and see :)
