Wow Jjamesnuk what fantastic feedback (good and not so good), our 430/4 experience is just beginning as we expect delivery in 4 weeks. I hope our van delivers too. We're very excited!!
Hi we have just bought a 2012 Orion 440/4. Its our first caravan so we had no comparisson but also no bias. We do own a T5 campervan and have lots of camping experience.
After looking at lots of caravans we narrowed it down to either the Orion or Elddis Explore/Avante.
The reason we chose the Orion was Price, 10 year warranty, Modern looking inside and out, Modern construction no wood, very well equipped, GRP skin, plastic bumpers on all corners, It fits on my drive, Excellent dealer network, website/information and parts backup.
We have spent four October nights in it so far and are very satisfied. The heating was excellent, too hot if anything, we left it on electric setting.
The only problem we had was one of the dinette bed infil cushions was missing. This was rectified the same day by the dealer.
The Orion looks small from the outside because of its shape. But inside there is more than enough room for us, two adults and two older children.
We fitted a 3.9mt porch awning which was fine although it did cut across the front side window. Its also only slightly shorter inside than the £2000 dearer Olympus.
We thought about the 450/5, but our oldest child will proberbly not come in a year or two. We also looked at the 430/4 but prefered the flexibility of the dinette that makes up to exactly the same side bed.
The only thing i would have prefered is a brighter white colour and darker tint windows. But very happy.
