only problem is SAS dont do the diamond any more, and they will not except any other to qualify, even though i told them i had spoken to SAS to confirm they are discontinued

I an insured via the C&CC, they offered a range of discounts, club member, secure storage, tyron bands, stabiliser, towing course etc. as well as a discount for having a diamond standard wheel lock, in my case an al-ko secure:

Same here, a whole range of possible discounts, some of which we qualified for, some not. There was no specific model of wheel lock mentioned, just one of the right standard. Even without every possible discount, we still thought the price was good for reliable insurance.

I am with CCC insurance and was happy with the discounts, however,I think the point that the OP is making is that the CCC offer a discount for either an alko or diamond lock, both of which fit into receivers on the chassis and are thought to be the most secure ( by the insurers ). However as the OPs van is a Hobby, I imagine it has a BPW chassis not an alko, so the alko lock just wont fit, only the diamond. But the diamond lock is no longer made.. So the club are offering a discount for using something you cannot buy.

Eldiss also uses the BPW chassis, I expect if enough members contacted the CCC and said diamond wheel locks are no longer made the club would catch on eventually and perhaps offer an alternative ?

I think some of the problem may lay in the fact that neither club operates their own insurance, for instance Club Care is simply a trading name that is licensed to Vantage Insurance Services by the CCC. Insurers by the very nature of their business base premiums and discounts on historical information and therefore would be looking at data regarding products that are not necessarily still available. It might be worth referring them to SAS who were the resellers in the UK and Winterhof who were the manufacturers.

Good point, I didn't pick up on the make of caravan. However, the policy discount is for having a diamond standard wheel lock, if you don't have one, for whatever reason, you can't qualify for that discount. I think the issue with SAS on the Al-ko chassis was to do with copywrite so thay withdrew the product, even if it was available it would only fit if the caravan chassis had the appropriate receptor. Anyone with an older van with an al-ko chassis will also not qualify for this discount unless or until a different type of wheel lock is assessed as meeting the diamond standard.

As an additional point. I have a twin axel and spoke to the underwriters for the C&CC policy as I didn't want the hassle of fitting two. He explained that I needed two to qualify for the discount but also mentioned in my case it made no difference as all the other discounts I did qualify for meant I was at the maximum discount in any case!

I have told ccc that the diamond is no longer available, but they say thats the only one they except, even without the discount they gave easily the best quote, so i am happy to have their insurance,

I've just had a quote from them, and they are perfectly happy with my normal wheel clamp. Those "special" ones wouldn't fit my van anyway.

Could be because its an Hobby, its not that much discount anyway, we both love the van and wouldnt change it for anything, certainly not a few pounds loss of discount
