hi everyone, normally i reside in camping under canvas but i need caravanning help! a friend has just purchased a 2002 coachman laser 4 berth twin axle with awning for £5000 and its great, now on the same site i have been offered a 2000 swift challenger 490 lse for £4500 without awning which is not in as good condition! am i missing something here as the math does not seem to add up in my head, thanks in advance
The Coachman was definitely a good buy. The Swift looks a bit more realistic. When you say "site" I assume you are talking about a dealers website rather than a classified ads website, in which case I am a bit confused why a dealer would sell the Coachman at a figure I would expect to buy it from a private seller whereas the Swift is nearer the sort of figure I would expect a dealer to be selling for.
sorry,i mean caravan site, we both found a holiday park we like and they are pitched ready to walk in and relax, just cant work out why the laser was such a good "bargain" compared to the swift which is only average condition wise and 2 year older, smaller, no awning, not as clean, a few scrapes, crappy wheels, (the laser had 4 alloys),the list goes on
The prices will be dictated by the respective owners I would imagine. Bear in mind though, that the price they're advertised at isn't necessarily the price they're worth or the price they'll eventually sell for...
We have a 2006 swift challenger 480 same layout, with it we got two awnings aquarolls waste hogs locks well everything as they were giving up, we paid £7,500 for it private three months ago.
There are 6 years between them , so I agree with legs down that seems more like a dealer price, so there could be room for a reduction, lovely vans though :)
