I snapped my achilles tendon (sorry if that isn't spealt right) a few years ago, not sure about now, but was legally allowed to drive an automatic with only one foot working, and this also passed with the insurance company. The company I worked for hired me one, so all worked out fine.

I never thought of that - although I drive an auto! My Sis did the same, terribly painful.

So sorry to hear that, John. Hope you make a quick recovery.
My wife did a similar thing some years ago when we were away in the 'van. Stepped down out of the van and fell as the ground was very uneven. Our car had already broken down and we had already arrived on the site towed by a Green Flag breakdown truck. Car was in garage being repaired so we had to call for an ambulance.
I was speaking to a bloke in the toilet block the next day (as you do). He asked me if I was having a good holiday. I explained to him that we arrived on the back of a tow truck. Then he said to me, 'Never mind, there was some poor family who had to have an ambulance yesterday'.
Its great to see some folk on these threads have a sence of humour instead of being serious all the time..post points DONT matter its keeping this site a friendy one.
