Our current storage site is 13 minutes drive away - however, the last 5 minutes is on a gravel, pot-holed farm track which has to be taken at walking pace in places and I can hear the cutlery rattling in the cupboards
I can swap to another site wich is 25 minutes drive away and costs an extra £60 a year but has proper tarmaced roads all the way.
Wife hates those last 20 minutes of our trips when we go back to storage and if I swap, that bit will be twice as long but I'm concerned about the damage to the caravan that the farm track may be causing.
Any opinions?

When you go over continuous pot holes with a caravan in tow, due to only having two wheels it jolts and twists the caravan body which the movement will in time weaken the structure plus have an effect on the waterproof sealing mastic. This happenned to me a few years back due to the very same reason trying to save money. It's not worth damaging the caravan to save money otherwise it could cost more than the £60 you are saving which I found out the hard way. I would tend to opt for the storage site with tarmac roads and although it maybe a bit further in fuel costs, if you can financially afford it I would change storage sites without hesitation. I did and although it cost about £80 a year more, I find it much more of a pleasure and relaxing than the previous storage site.
David....I used to store my caravan at that storage site at Twycross. I suppose you know it but the place where we store our caravans is far superior. It's not the cheapest but generally it's quite a good site and the owners quite friendly too.
I'd go for the easier option too, not just for the potential damage but less stress when towing, we used to store ours on our neighbours farm which was about 1/2 mile through single track road and it used to put hubby into a mood with the thought of it in case we met oncoming traffic.
We used the caravan less because of the worry of fetching/returning it.

We were at Wood End, but much, much more secure now, IMHO. Like you, I feel a poor road surface does the van no good - some of our ordinary roads are bad enough, but that's another story!
David....I didn't know there was a storage site at Wood End, but like you we're happy with the storage site we are on at the moment and I would be reluctant to move actually even if it was cheaper.
Thats probably the one thing that bugs me over the place we store ours. The yard although flat is of a firm gravel surface with 2 long dippys in the gravel just by the gate. As its by the gate you are only going slow anyway. But the road outside the yard makes you feel like your on a bouncey castle because its breaking up and its a dead end road so council probably arent too fussed over it.
