We are currently considering a bailey Orion 440-4 and wondered if anyone could recommend an awning we should consider? We have never owned a caravan before and would welcome any advice from members on here on ones to consider (or avoid!).
This may be a darft question but can you get any awnings that you can use as a full awning or just part of as a porch awning? The OH wants a full awning for long breaks but I would like a really simple (and quick to put up!) porch awning for weekend breaks away.
I could ask the local dealer we are looking at getting the caravan from but would prefer some more independant advice as we are new to this!
we very nearly bought an Orion but one of the things that put me off was the position of the windows for a porch awning as the lounge window and the door catch are very close. (I might be wrong on that though).
We've now got a Bailey Ranger GT60 and have just come back from a weekend away using a Kampa Rally 260 porch awning. I have nothing but praise for the awning, it was so easy to put up we couldnt believe it (probably something to do with all the tents we've had!). It had plenty of space for 4 adults to sit and eat in as well as room for a second small table, shoes, barbeque etc. The Kampa was up and pegged out in under 20 mins.
I dont know of any awnings you can use as a porch or full by putting up different bits.

I don't think there are any 'convertable' awnings, but it may depend on the size of your van. You could get close to it with... (sorry to repeat myself) the Kampa Fiesta might come close. If you have a small caravan with a straight roof of about 350mm, then you could use a Fiesta and add the side/bedroom pods for extra room. If your van is small, I suppose it is conceivable that you could end up with a bigger awning?? (See my gallery for Fiesta without the side bedroom pods).

Happy Birthday, Sevanne. Hope you had a really good time.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunatly we are very limited in our caravan choice as our cars weight is 1456kg (vectra 1.9cdti) so the orion is the best we can come up with at the moment as it works out as 85.6% of the kerb weight.
The OH wants a small van that has the shower seperate from the toilet and also has the option of using it as one double and two childrens singles (but not bunks). If anyone has any other ideas within our weight limit (new or used) please let me know.
Hi. We've had a Bailey orion 450/5 since May this year and use 2 awnings. I know the door layout of the 450/5 is different to the rest of the range but as a full size awning we bought a Dorema Octavia because the sales waffle was"The new Octavia is the very latest model designed and developed by Dorema to enhance the futuristic styling of the latest modern caravans." As a porch awning we use a Sunncamp Scenic Plus.
