After having a stone hit and crack our front centre window we bought a Specialised Accessories one and have had no problems with it whatsoever. When we are at home the caravan is parked at the side of the house facng the sun, so we put the cover on then to stop the front panel going dull.

I have spoken to our local police, plus shown photos of the van with the cover on. And they say long as you can see the lights when on through the material, it is legal.
But my cover is a light weight one, so cant comment on the heavier ones.

i thought jusy the lights had to be a certain brightness like in a car if a side light or indicator light is not bright enough it will fail an mot so,if you cover the lights on the van they are not at their maxium brightness.

  • Trailers manufactured after 1 October 1985 which are more than 1600mm wide, (except boat trailers) require front position lamps (clear lens).
  • Certain trailers must have side position lights which show white to the front and red to the back. In addition, trailers over certain lengths must have amber side reflectors.
