I HAVE SCOURED THIS FORUM AND SEEN SOME REALLY GOOD ADVICE REGARDING BLACK BITS IN THE WATER, I HAVE DONE THE MILTON BIT AND FOR A SHORT WHILE THE TOILET FLUSHED BUT HALF HEARTED IE HARDLY ANY WATER COMING OUT, BUT THE PUMP WORKING OK.
IT HAS NOW STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER (PUMP WORKS BUT NO WATER COMING OUT)
HELP!!
I HAVE SEEN SOME PEOPLE SAY THEY HAVE DRAINED THE TANK NOW COMES THE DIM BIT "WHERE IS THE DRAIN NUT/VALVE?
From outside the van look into the side door of the toilet .There a clear pipe to tell you how much water is in the filler tank at the top of that just pull the pipe out as it acts as a gauge and a drain pipe. Hope this helps.
Many thanks so far but no joy with any of the suggestions.
There is water in the tank (some still in the filler tube, which I emptied and refilled)
No tubes anywhere even took out some covers which were below the cassette.
It is a 402X model
HAVE A LOOK AT THIS LINK and see if the part numbered 54 55 56
the part 55 pops out of 54 and 56 swivels around to empty the tank but just to make sure dont put to much pressure on it as ive not got this toilet but it should be the same as mine hope this helps again (just hope you have a adobe reader now lol)

Had enough of this problem so took out the control panel(pump switch) and found a grotty minging tube with a pump at the bottom!!
Immersed the pump in a bowl of water HEY PRESTO worked like a dream, sussed out that the water tank was below all of this gubbins and filled it up with a tap filler tube and again worked like a dream, by now my neighbour had called around to see if all was well and quickly departed when he saw 1. My face 2. a tube coming out of the toilet 3. Me Cursing
Now comes the strange bit(after a cup of tea)the main filler tube still has the miltons mixture in the top none of it has gone into the holding tank, so in essence there was no water in the tank, and none getting there via the filler tube
I have dropped an email to Thetford as there is definitely a issue with the set up on this van not even a drain tube as mentioned by NN and also appears in the schematics.
If I get anything back from thetfords I will update this post as i am sure some somewhere is pulling their hair out with the same problem

Please do - the curiosity is killing me ! I hope you get it fixed soon.
Am just wondering if it's been installed correctly in the first place.
if the drain tube appears in the schematics but is not present in the van, maybe it was installed by an apprentice at the factory.
Was it a new van? (if not, the previous owner may have 'tinkered' too.)
Interestingly enough, I don't think I have a drain outlet on my top tank either. I drain the tank by flushing it through in the normal way you flush the toilet.
Still nothing from Thetford mind you my neighbour is still smiling after this weekends endeavours.
I have since I lost my temper noted that I am taking it all in my stride and in actual fact happy that I can at last use the flush albeit incorrectly
TOP TIP- having probs with a thetford toilet (no water and no sign of any black bits any more despite filling via the filler tube) have a look at the space below the pump switch/cover handle there is a water proof "bowl" lift the bowl and you will see the power lead (pump) going down into the water holding tank.
Take out the outlet hose from the bowl and lift the pump out (don't yank it out!!) and place it into a water filled receptacle and operate the pump to test. If it works then you have the same issue I have, exactly what that is I am still waiting to speak with Thetford.
I still have one question how does the water that enters via the filler tube above the sceptic tank get into the holding tank when it has to travel upwards?????????????
Oh god - this is too technical for me sorry ! I was hoping you were posting again to say you'd got it all sorted out - daresay you were too ....
What on earth is keeping Thetford ? It's what 9 days since you emailed them & still no reply - that's pretty shoddy imo. I really wouldn't leave it any longer personally I'd have been chasing them before now - you're very patient ! I think you should email them again - saying you've been waiting for a reply since 17th - & ask them to reply el pronto. Better still ring them. Or both !
