Hi all. I am off to Keswick on Saturday (30th) and in the hope of getting some sunshine. Can someone tell me what position to point my tow bar to get the best from the sunshine especially on the awning in the evening. Usually I get given a pitch and end up with a rubbish position. If I get an option I would like to be prepared.

I you have an awning that you sit out in then with a UK spec van point the van West as you will have sun in the van and on the awning for the whole day. If you have a European van with the door on the other side then pointing the van east achieves the same result.
However if it is very hot then doing exactly the reverse of this will be most comfortable as it will give you shelter from the direct sun for the greater part of the day.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
i would have it was self explanitory ,as the sun rises in east and sets in the west , just make sure you are not shield by trees , and that the van is pitched with a safe distance of 6 metres between units , my self i have never found it warm enough in the UK to seek any shade ,
I reckon if you position your draw bar (and the rest of the van attached to it) in Florida or as near as you can you should get plenty of sunshine.
Failing that, if you want your awning facing the sun you should point your draw bar north, then your door will face west. (Mr Chile has just told me this, he is a geography teacher, and knows all this compass stuff).
