Greendemon315 is quite right it is illegal to use any naked flames on MSS it is against Fire Regulations. This is from the Caravan Club leaflet listing places for night halts on Motorway Service Areas "In accordance with fire regulations, no gas may be used in the 'van' because of the risk from fire and/or explosion." Even if you are away from the filling station vans and cars are parked very close to each other and there is often oil and fuel spillage on the ground. This is also why you can't run your fridge off gas whilst on a ferry.
I don't think I'd like to parked on a service station with someone using a naked flame close by and I certainly wouldn't want to be the person responsible for injury or death to others because of my actions.
It's a flask a visit to the service area, or pull off to a site or C/L if you want to start using gas for anything.
