Hi just needed to vent about something that happened to us yesterday. Saw a perfect caravan for our needs so rang the owner up to find out the length of the van he said he was at work & would ring me back once finished work with the actual length & that he wasn't able to let me view it today as he was too busy. No ringback so I called back yesterday evening to arrange viewing in the morning to be told he has sold it to someone who viewed it an hour earlier. How annoying is that.
My first thought is, if he treats you like this as potential purchasers he's not worth buying off. Imagine if you had a question post-purchase...... is he likely to help? Doubt it. Lucky escape. Buy off someone who is helpful and considerate.
Start the search again, and better luck next time. Your ideal van (and seller) is out there!!
Yes had this done to us, but like Gareth says, probably a luck escape
We are on the other end right now, we are selling our van ATM , had someone want to view, they never turned up,we waited , no call nothing, we had their number phoned them, they said oh sorry we had two to look at and we bought the first one , nothing I could do, but a phonecall would of been nice to say they couldn't make it, .... My rant for the day lol

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
Unfortunately it happens all the time , i always add at the end of speaking to a buyer/seller , please call me if you change the arrangements , some just don't have the good manners to do so ,,
Well I would have phoned out of courtesy if it was me.
We are looking for a light van under 1,000 kg fully loaded as our car has a towing capacity of 1,100 kg but we have to have an Electric Wheelchair loaded into the car which weighs 130kg itself so got to watch the poor suspension.
This van was a 4 berth as well the others around this weight have all been 2 berth that we have seen.
As with anything today, no time or thoughts about common courtesy. I wonder how many would-be sellers simply take the loss and trade in; simply to avoid being messed around by prospective buyers.
Good for the dealers; and a lot of caravan buyers losing out as a result. We took the easy option with our previous van. We know someone paid around £2,500 or more than we sold in at.
Agree I'm <_> this close to trading it in, but I'm loath to do so, just don't want to loose to much, so shall just keep advertising and smiling!!

I hate people who dont stand by their word! I once agreed a price for a motorbike, then someone offered me £250 more but I stood by my word. I would rather have less money but have more integrity and respect from the new buyer.

It's awful to be messed around but there are good people out there as well as bad - we sold our van privately & fully expected to have people not turning up, making silly offers etc... but the 1st people to look at it were lovely & made a good offer there & then.
The day ours went to it's new home we started looking & expected some messing around looking at damp vans or being beaten to the post on good ones but we saw one that day & collected it the next. Job done & dealt with lovely people both ways.
So Fuzzchops - try not to be too disheartened. When you find a decent seller you'll probably find the van is a good one too. It's out there somewhere just waiting for you to find it.
And Murano - hang on in there. It'll be worth it when you sell for a better price & have more money to spend on your next van.
did have one when we were looking, pics of the van were nice etc, phoned to arrange proper viewing, went round (75 mile round trip) when we got there he was expecting me to give him a lift to where he had it stored, I couldnt do this as I had taken the wife and 3 kids, and only had a 406 at the time, he seemed narked off and said I had wasted HIS time, if he had mentioned it, I could have possibly left one kid with someone!!.
I had one worse than that. I rang for directions and again to say I was setting off having been to the bank. drove 30 miles and then got a message about a mile from his addressto say someone else had phoned and he told them we were on the way .They got there first and he sold it to them.
Not that unreasonable to not want to talk at work and just maybe the poor chap forgot to phone you or lost your number! I bet he got more than one call that never led to anything too.

He was very pleasant on the phone spoke to him for 5 minutes about it which he told me the history of the van & everything that was included with it.
