We are looking to buy a new caravan at some point this winter. I've just read that a good time to get a deal is just before the new years caravans are released because dealers will want to clear 2011 stock.
Does anyone know what time of year the 2012 caravans come out - is it as obvious as January 2012 or is it before then. Hoping that we can get a good deal if we time things right!
Any other advice for getting a good price or extras on a new van would also be appreciated. We know the exact van we want so that will probably limit our options a bit.
As I understand it caravan years are a bit different to cars and the year runs from September to September, i.e a 2012 caravan will be available from October this year at the NEC show, etc.
We are in the same boat and are currently looking at a couple of different models and trying to get the best deal we can! You should be able to get at least £500 off any new model at the moment and if you haggle also things like starter packs, etc.
Hopefully we will still be able to get a deal in October as we won't have the money till then!
We are looking at an Elddis Avante 554 or Compass equivalent. We have an older caravan already so are looking for money off or kit like a motor mover / awning.
I have read that you should expect to get 10/15% off the list price.
If you can wait until January of February when things are really quiet in the dealerships you can get some really good bargains.
We bought a used caravan in February several years ago and the salesman took a third off the screen price with no haggling. When we bought our current new caravan, we bought it in October, mentioning that we were prepared totravel to another dealers and got the 'van with around £1500 off with a few extras thrown in as well.
It all depends on how cheeky you are prepared to be.
