We don't get overly concerned how the site costing is arrived at, only if its reasonable for the facilities we will use, pleasantness, time of week/year and desirability of the area.
Certainly we don't spend the time there all worked up whether anyone else is getting more or even less value than we are; that's not why we go caravanning.

DaveCoaches.....imho if a site wants to charge by occupancy and you do not agree with this.....do not book there, quite a simple solution for you. But please do not take the p*ss out of site owners by sneaking extra people in. In my experience the single occupant is the one generally out all day and the unlawful six make full use of ALL the facilities.
You keep on about sneaking extra people in to sleep in the awning - it's not something I've come across. More often than not the people sleeping in the awning are fully paid for.
Would this be something you've practiced yourself?

I don't book there and I don't sneak extra people in. Nor do I think it is a particularly fair way of pricing things. I am not an unlawful six, I am a lawful 4 and we use our own facilities, don't often use EHU, even on a site where it is free and don't usually put an awning up to hide people in or for any other reason for that matter. If I ever stay on a site near you feel free to try to charge me for the six invisible occupants though... I'll not be staying.
My point was that six people do not necessarily use the facilities more than fewer people. I have no microwave in my caravan so all my cooking is done on gas. My last caravan only had gas heating (water and accommodation heating) so yet more energy I was using from my calor gas bottle (which maybe I should point out was paid for legitimately, not stolen) When sites are charging by occupancy a family holiday can be priced out of the market. Maybe the sites that charge by occupancy are actually looking for an alternative to saying "no children allowed" which is fine, because what some of them charge for a family of 4 is more than I can get a trip abroad for in some cases.
Well I have to go now... I have some rioting and looting to do...

No Rune Caster we do not even have an awning !! Perhaps its the type of sites we use, but its not uncommon where we have been.
My point is that we all have different ideas on how we use our caravans etc and just one type of pricing for pitch occupancy is not agreeable to everyone, but if the sites policy is not to your liking just book elsewhere and not try to find a way around the policy.
Dave Coaches Thank you for your explanation. Please do not take offence, but it is good to exchange views and as much as I appreciate yours you should appreciate mine. After all if we were all the same the pricing issue would never arise !!
