My little caravan has no TV points or aerial in it but I would like to get a small digital TV/DVD.

Have seen a lovely little unit which I think will do the job but apart from the TV, what else do I need?!

Do I just need a suiutable digital areial and mast? I will need to attach this to the jockey wheel as can't use a roof mounted aerial and simply plug the lead into the back of the TV?
There is already a hole in the floor in the underbed locker that I could use to feed the cable from the mast into the van.

Sorry for sounding so thick - I'm not very technically minded and usually just take my laptop away to watch DVDs but it would be nice to watch TV too!

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated!

I use a pole and a cheap aerial, I then put the lead through the window into the back of the TV. The rubber window seals have enough give to be able to close the window on the cable.

All TV aerials are digital, just make sure its "wideband"

Have you considered a satellite system? You can buy kits from the likes of B&Q quite cheaply and I doubt it would be anymore difficult to set up than a TV aerial. It would mean to would have a receiver (small box) inside the caravan.

with your windows being glass I wouldnt try and shut them with the cable in the way, If your van has a solid wood floor as opposed to sandwich construction then I would screw one of these under the van with a good dollop of sealant around the box  http://www.thecaravanshop.co.uk/aerials-masts-tv-s/external-tv-sockets/external-tv-socket-supplied-with-cable/prod_389.html with the internal cabling just coiled up in the bed box during transit then plug your external cable in and job is a goodun

Hi HEJC72,

I have the same unit as alan126 has linked you with, there is a hole in van side, just big enough for two cables to go through one satellite and one coax cable, connections, made at rear of aerial box, cable hole and box rim then sealed, box then screwed to side wall, from there mine’s go to a signal booster (AC) then to TV/SAT sockets, coax cable for aerial/sat can be plugged in to aerial box on side of van, same with cables from TV/SAT, they plug into the vans internal TV/SAT sockets. My van already had the aerial box fitted TV only, just upgraded to TV/SAT, Signal booster fitted in wardrobe, and switch fitted to switch on the signal booster. Hope this gives you an idea of how it is done.

Dont forget if your going along the lines of a digital tv (freeveiw) you will also need a 12v or 240v ariel booster (generally come with a caravan ariel)

Rather then spend out on an aeriel which will often fail to get a signal on a lot of sites, a cheap satellite will prove much more reliable.
