started a Facebook group about them ;)
After Years of camping under canvas I decided that doing anything without unzipping all the time must be the way forward for the shred of sanity I have left. Plus I'm getting old now, but don't get me wrong, I can still kick it with people half my age but really needed more comfort. I like being outdoors, but when I'm indoors I want it to be a smaller version of my house lol
I can imagine some people will think I need sectioning, and some heads might have exploded but that's how I feel. I was born at the beginning of the 70's home computer age, and stayed in that field till the present day, so I have a very short attention span and need to keep updating my camping experiences.
Anyhow, I didn't even really want a caravan, but I had been 'thinking' about them for some time, so one day (on one of my random searches of Gumtree) I saw this tiny caravan listed as an 1993 Elddis Wisp 300. They really do look weird, as they look like someone has chopped the arse off a normal 2 berth caravan at the door. Inside it looked rather naff, as it had red seats and no curtains, but it had a proper cassette toilet, hot and cold heating and water 4 gas hobs AND AN OVEN! YES! I can finally cook Pizza properly. hANG ON i'M GETTING A SQUARE ARSE damn caps was on..to late lol
That's a little better (but not much)
Where was I? Yes, I fired off an email to the man selling the Elddis, and arranged to go and see it (Oh I forgot to mention I didn't even have a tow bar fitted to the car yet, and as it's quite sporty I need one that could be hidden and removed)
When I got there I was quite surprised at how good the condition was, as apart from a few minor battle scars and a cracked rear window it looked half it's age. The inside was free of damp (as I could see) and all the electrics worked (the oven looked like it had never been used) so I went to strike a deal. It was advertised at £1100, so putting on my best Fat Pie eating Mike Brewer voice presented a bid at a ridiculously low £800. His counter offer of £1000 was countered by my offer of £900 and he reluctantly shook hands with me, BONUS!
Now all I had to do was leave a deposit, then get a towbar fitted and we would be in business. Well I did, and he delivered it before my towb ar was fitted for £30, and I've been out in it twice now and its been brilliant so I heartily recommend the Elddis Wisp 300.
I bet this won't even fit in one post as there is usually a 500 character limit on forum posts but ill split it up I suppose lol
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast ;)
Damn I forgot If you own a Wisp 300 do a search on Facebook for 'We are Elddis Wisp 300 Owners'

Be careful the Powers that be are nervous at the moment. If they see any evidence on Facebook of folks inciting wisp owners to meet up in one place and sit around drinking wine, they may think its code. ....enjoy

Ha Ha loved your post. I am new to this site & new to caravanning but am now addicted to both! Just need to get hubby to be as keen, He's a short stay, fair weather caravanner only!
Hi everyone, I'm glad you liked my story even though it was nearly 6am and my brain was destroyed. I'm often at Barn Farm in Matlock (back there on the 2nd of Sept)but we are more likely to be knocking back Smirnoff Apple than Wine lol
We would love to meet up with people like us but most people go caravanning with their children, and our topics of conversation would probably sound a bit weird.
Anyway anyone that is considering first time caravanning (but only require enough space for 2 people) should consider the Wisp 300 as they are easy to tow, small and have all the amenities of a much larger caravan.
Lastly anyone with a Elddis can join my Facebook Group and I've just uploaded some pictures of 'Willow' ;)

hi Steve
Sounds like youre having lots of caravanning fun
We are nottingham folk too and try hard not to take our kids away with us
As for topics of conversation we talk about cars ( a lot) and have spent a while chatting about chickens before now
Sounds right up our street :) I was quite involved in the modified car scene in the mid 90's, and run a large Vauxhall based forum so cars usually get a mention in one of our late night ramblings. We are like big kids really, so our topics of conversations reflect the mental age we are feeling at a particular point in time. If we have been partaking in inebriating substances this could be the creation of the word 'Sausagerollness' (the smell of Sausage rolls from a distance) to the most ridiculous Xbox Live gamertag in the World 'WinkyPooHole' being one of them lol
As you can see we don't really conform to any kind of Caravanning stereotype (if they exist) and although we are not 'rowdy' we tend to laugh quite loud at stupid things.

Our very first caravan was an Elddis, alas not a wisp, it was a crown regent. nice vans.
wish you lots of happy trips in you new tin tent and good luck with your facebook group too.
Thank you for the replies since my last post, and I just thought I'd update this thread with the new name for the group. I realised that there are very few 300/2's so I have included the 350/2 and the newer explore 302 ;)
Just had a read of the posts on your facebook page - brilliant!
I can't join 'cos we don't have an Elddis. However we did spend a long time sitting in one at a local dealers recently enjoying that "new caravan" smell and marvelling at how small it was - does that count?!

You don't have to be Elddis Wisp owners, as anyone with a juvenile sense of humour can join lol
By the way If Tracey G reads this, I'm sorry but I couldn't get to my group properly Yesterday to add you so please try again ;)
