My Father-in-law used to have one of these and they do the job fairly well.
They're intended to steady an aerial mast and not support it i.e., the mast rests on the ground and the clamp simply holds it upright. You clamp the bracket either to an existing profile on the body of the van or use the supplied plate to provide a suitable profile on the van.
