Put this on the repairs page but after 52 views no answers!

So heres my question...

Our 1994 van is looking a bit worse for wear on the outside - what can people recommend to make it look better? We need advise not ony on cleaners but paint too as the green/cream look isnt doing it for us!

For cleaning I just used hot soapy (Fairy liquid) water with a soft brush if you have the rough finish to the paint,

as for paint i'm not sure if you need a special primere or not if it's an allybody, like you do for plastic

I'll try and post a pic of the vans that me mate and I have rescued from various places and thats all we use is hot soapy water

The last van looked like it had been under a tree for years

Hi lindjemp,  I used hot water and fairy liquid for the first wash of the van, and have used AutoGlym  Super Raisin Polish and the Extra Gloss Polish especially for the plastic front of van, brings up that dull faded look like new, have recently tried Grease Lightning's Showroom Shine, and it works very well keeps shine for long periods, (just rub on and buff off no water needed, even on dirty van) good shine when used on windows of van too, not to good for the dull faded van front though,AutoGlym better for that.

I have painted an old van many, many years ago, after a total re-build, brush painted it with enamel paint as the hole van was aluminium. (Not my choice of colour). hope that helps

You can see What the van looked all over. The clean bit was done with just hot water and fairy liquid. now it's just polished with Mer my mate uses.
