Hi - does anyone know of a company who makes caravan curtains for specific models please. We have a 1994 Elddis Gulfstream XL 2 berth van with very faded curtains. They run on tracks bottom and top but also have a frill across the pelmet - the front bay frill trim is attached with velcro and the sides on J track (I think!) Are there any standard ones made for this model? I need them all replacing (subject to cost!) Many thanks.
The joys of velvet curtains (our van is 1994 too) is that they are cotton so I dyed mine (they were that awful coral colour and had faded badly in the sun)I used Dylon dye that you put in the washing machine and dyed them a lovely cosy pinky wine colour (supposed to be burgundy on the packet but actually came out a nice colour)Cost me a fiver and am very pleased with them.

Many thanks for all the advice re: dyeing the curtains. I will certainly try this, I hadn't thought of it and the curtains are not worn at all just faded by the sun. B-)
I second that, our first caravan we had had curtains that had faded really bad, box of dylon, voila! New curtains :)

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
if ya have a sewing machine (or a friend u could borrow one of) im no expert and i did my own just took my time and took 1 front and 1 side down (as all the side ones are same size) and unpicked it and used it as a template also used the lining of the old cutains, re sew them back together (remembering the way the poppers went on) end hey presto they look ace and made such a difference ours were dark green faded and had a bleach stain on when we brought it second hand, now they are cream thermal backed and lined and only cost me £50 plus my time.
when we got our Gulfstream (1995 model) the previous owner had removed the curtains and pelmets before selling it to the person we bought it off. We have managed to get a set from our local caravan guy who had them lying about. I had to alter them to fit and then had to make a new pelmet, it's not perfect but will do for now. I have got a sewing maching but being fairly new to it I'm not too confident of making curtains from scratch. Can't help with the dye but maybe ring a few caravan breakers to see if they have any

Curtains are not hard to make if you have a sewing machine, unpick 1 curtain and use that as a template for all the curtains the same size cut them out allowing extra for the hem and fold at the top and bottom iron and pin then sew,Hem the lining first then the main fabric then with right sides together sew both sides turn the right way ,then reuse the tape from the old curtains and sew it on the top and bottom keep going back to old curtains to look how it all goes together,I did a make over on our van see my profile.Hope you get something sorted.
Sheltie, I may be wrong but sounds like you put to many curtains in at once hence the patchy dye. I did mine last year, 6 curtains and 2 tie backs, did them in 2 lots (3 curtains and 1 tie back in each) used 1 pack of dye each load but came out beautifully, rearly pleased with them. Try dying again but dont put so many in.
hi sheltie my missis use to do sewing as a living and she some to replace our old faded ones and a very good job she did, she used the old ones as templates, she would be willing to make yours for you if you are interested, where abouts are you
