This will be the first winter I have had to stow a caravan. Looking at various things to do I noticed that you get 'winter wheels' for long term storage. I have axle stands in the garage, would putting the van on these be the same.
Putting a van up on axle stands is not as easy as you think.It is advisable to keep the van on the car then, jack up one side and slide a stand under the axle then repeat at the other side.When your sure everything is ok,lower the jockey wheel,making sure its tight,then crank it up just enough off the towball.Lower all steddies before you pull the car away.Do not apply the hand brake when in storage and cover the tyres with old sacks or something similar.This is the way ive done it for years and perhaps someone else may have a better idea.
No just put the wheels in your garage and lay flat on their sides,you can cover the brake drums with plastic bin bags or something to keep out rain etc.It will save you buying winter wheels.
I use 2 scissor jacks one at each side and lift the van a bit at a time each side untill it's high enough for the stands to go under then I lower it down onto the stands but keep the jacks under as well just tight but not taking any load our van is on stands all the time when at home with the wheels covered with canvas to save the tyres from uv light
