Hi All, had a concern with the decals (transfers) peeling off the caravan. Looked like a photo of an Aero bar (full of bubbles). During its first service I had these replaced under warranty no problem. Now after approximately 6 months on, the front one above the window is starting again.

Has anyone had similar concerns.

One line of thought is that in storage, the van faces south with the sun (if we have any) shinning on the van all day. It’s also covered with a caravan cover. Could this be causing the transfer to sweat?

I am planning to request this to be changed again on its second service but fear a answer of no.

Have you seen below the transfer itself ? It may be something else if this is the second time this has lifted off.Im thinking the paint has not stuck to the aluminium because of water vapour being trapped and causing bubbles or the aluminium has not been cleaned right before painting.Decals are usually bullet proof unless water or air has been trapped behind them.

I wouldnt worry about it as the job has not yet been sorted and would tell them your not happy and offer no excuse why this is happening..its their problem and tell them so.

Is it bubbling again or just peeling, sort of a 'raggy' edge to it?  I work for a sign company.  Normally when decals do this, the bubbling is caused by air under the decal during fitting, but the peeling could be something they've used to clean off the old decals with??  It could be the sun, but normally (on van graphics for example) they will just shrink slightly, and fade with time, they don't peel.  I could be completely off tangent here though, as I am only assuming that caravan graphics are some form of vinyl?? they could be painted, I don't know.  We've certainly never done caravan graphics!!

I notice you have a Bailey van.  If they ask you what you clean the van with, give an informed reply. .  Bailey recommend cleaning products from Care-avan as they have tested them.  If you use other cleaning products, they could put it down to the use of a non-tested product.  I just advise checking this out.

All peeling of my Peg Ser 1.

Dealer replaced one: c/w bubbles. Already coming off.

That said, all the panel ends inside the caravan are also peeling off, and  number of screws, trims, clips, brackets all off at every outing.

It seems Bailey have chosen the very cheapest of products in their construction, and it shows as the 'van is used.

Our previous vans never really showed any signs of usage, but our new Bailey looks really knackered already. Really disappointed.

Hi, Cheers for the feedback, there are bubbles under transfer but when they replaced them they were fine. I am wondering now it its something they have cleaned the van with prior to fitting. As for cleaning the van, its cleaned every time before putting it away so its clean for next trip. Basically just wash it off with a car detergent. All the others are fine so i dont think its the cleaning procedure. but ill take on board what been posted and let you know how i get on. Not due for a service till October mind!!

I think it sounds possibly something they've cleaned it with prior to application.  Some cleaners can attack the vinyl.  Same as not using pressure washers, Im sure many wouldn't on a caravan but people do use them on vans then wonder where their graphics went!!

Yes I have a Ranger GT 60 and i have had the same problem . My Caravan also faces south all day and is covered.
My Dealer replaced the front Ranger decal 3 times in 9 months. I then sent photo's to Bailey who advised more water needed to be applied when replacing , this water is then squeezed out from under the decal using a squeegy thus eliminating any air being trapped underneath as this expands when temperature changes causing the bubbles. My dealer replaced the last one in November and this is still fine to date. Fingers crossed.

Glad i could help you as you feel you are the only one with the problem especially after owning 11 caravans in 39 years and never ever had this problem before. I have also had 2 middle front windows fail with the usual internal marks .I had a mark 3 fitted last october and this has cured the problem as this window has a bowed front to stop it deflecting

I worked in the motor trade and any decals we fitted was put on with meths not water.Meths makes the backing glue more sticky and you get no air bubbles like the way you would with water.

bailey distinctly stated water which was used by the dealer perhaps applying meths on abs is not cosidered a good idea
