Could be useful, for those people who attend shows round the country and need some where to stay overnight with there equipment, but not for me. I like the comfort of the caravan too much.
------------- "PACESETTERS" German Shepherd dog display team, we are out and about raising money for guide dogs.
'Looks a bit like a horse box but I quite like it, especially the red one. It's certainly different.'
That could be a good use for it if you don't mind a horsey pong at night. I love the aluminum floor and the tough construction.
On the same youtube page there was this clip ( from the 70's judging by the hot pants). They certainly build them tough out there. I wouldn't bet on our vans withstanding this treatment.
I was looking at another video about camplite. The construction looks to be far more advanced and stronger than our vans. He says they are multi-generational and can be passed on to the chidren and then the grandchildren. Certainly our manufacturers wouldn't dream of aspiring to that, with their wooden construction, although I know some will have lasted. What percentage will last 25 years or more?
The inside is shockingly basic by our standards. I have seen plusher toilet blocks. The jockey wheels look a bit small. But air conditioning and awnings are standard and you can have them painted to match your car. No gas lockers though.
That reminded me of something I saw around 25 years ago (although the two things are not even in the same league!).
Picture a very small pony horse trailer with an arched tin roof, with windows in the sides (complete with net curtains) and being towed by a mini. It was an absolute corker!
Interesting to look at but built in the US & not really suitable for UK roads as they stand. The cost of import tax etc would make them not worth buying anyway.
Made of aluuu-minum so should last a fair while...
I don't like the idea much of having no supports under the bedrooms as it looks like the platforms are being reliant on just the hinges alone. Surely once they are opened out there should be some device like trailer tents have to support the bed platforms on the under side. Also the Aluminium construction may be light weight but it certainly wouldn't be very warm or comfortable so this idea may be suitable just for days out with the toys etc. but not practical for overnight sleeping or holidaying in my view. It's not the sort of thing I would be interested in at all.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
