Have a look at this new Burstner Averso Caravan - apparently the first caravan with a motor home style pull down double bed. So maybe this could be the compromise on the fixed bed dilemma with children. I hope the UK manufacturers are taking note (especially those with the extra strength roof):
That is GENIUS!! That's the layout our van is already (withouth the extra bed obviously), so that would be perfect...although could be weight problems.
Just have to wait 10 years for someone to actually make it...
EDIT: actually, MTPLM is only 1500kg and it costs 17k euros - pretty reasonable (see here )

I'm all for sticking the kids in a side locker , great for getting the noseweight ect down and solves all those problems of people wanting to be able to shut the kids of at night
Excellent van love the pulldown bed.

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.

Could be a good reason to hope across to Holland - buy the van and combine with a holiday!!
I think I'd have put that cheeky girl under the locker. Did any of you notice her sticking her tongue out when the camera was outside the van at the beginning of the clip ??
am loving the pull down bed. I hate having to move everything to put the bed down at night and worse, away in the morning before we can all have breakfast. Also love the outside access under the bed. Once our kids beds are up, we leave them up so have to move everything off the bed to access the storage. All so sensible ,you wonder British manufacturers don't do it. I would seriously consider buying one of these and cheaper than the updated version of my 6 berth avante.
I had a 1960 Sprite Alpine with a pull down bed - although it pulled down from the back wall rather from the roof. 4 inch thick sprung mattress and ties to tie the bedding on. The only thing was that it weighed a ton!
