Hiya i was wondering if anyone can offer help, my father has bought an old Abi caravan to see if he likes it and has sited it long term (9months on site, storage for 3months). However we went up on Saturday to put the awning up and its a bit dated not a huge problem but in our novice'ness i doubt we put it up very secure and when hes gone up today well lets say its not in a good state (it was very windy last night)..

He says he's not bothered about an awning but he'd like some outside space to store items in and i was thinking of trying to find and buy a second hand porch/midi  awning which would probably suit him better.

I measured the van anyway and it was 7ft 6 in height, is there a height size on porch awnings as the ebay/preloved adverts i'm looking at don't seem to determine any size, i didn't think there was a one size will fit all basis? And also what type of porch/midi awning should i be looking for that would suit a caravan long term? (i presume steel poles and a heavier duty fabric but which manufacturer?)

Huge thanks, i'd love his experience to be a positive one and get him on the right track.

hi don't know if this link http://www.bowenawnings.co.uk/awnings/measure-awning will be of use but it's where we looked when we first got our caravan and started looking for an awning

maybe something like this  a caravan storage area as opposed to an 'awning' may be a better option for a seasonal pitch, this one's on ebay.

hope this helps a bit

We've been having problems finding a suitable porch awning for our old ABI van as its does appear to be considerably shorter than more modern ones and the awnings we've tried have all been too long.

Hopefully someone on here will be able to help us both.

Thanks 'realbusdriver' spoke to dad today he'd prefer something half the size or smaller than the length of the caravan. I think it blowing down in parts frightened him if it did it while he was there overnight and he would struggle to get it down.

I mentioned it to a client of mine today and they are borrowing me an NR porch awning to try out this weekend its 8ft height so 'should' be ok then i can look around for one if its suitable.
