David, we just couldnt manage with an Orion, too small and not enough cupboard space. Just been offered a brilliant part ex against the new Olympus 2. Trying to decide what to do as also got private buyer interested in the GT60.
Dealer offered us Olympus for £14500 without part ex and new powertouch fitted for £800 or we accept the good part ex price, swap mover for free but van cost is £15795. Think we need to squeeze our buyer for a bit more cash then its a goer!!
The loo in the Olympus was a dream to sit on lol and the shower cubicle is almost oval in shape, we loved it and the bunks are a good size (6ft 3 long and both kids are tall and thin) with masses of storage under the bottom bunk. The bunks are nicely tucked away and dont seem to take up much room and the headroom is much better as there are only the two of them. In practice, we'd have the front, son would have side dinette and Chloe has bagged top bunk. Bottom bunk would then be used as storage. Layout will work til kids have decided they dont want to holiday with us anymore. Son at 15 dosent always come with us and definetly wont be coming to France with us, preferring to go off fishing with inlaws and their motorhome. Best of all they can get us the Olympus by the middle of next month.
CandP, thats a great deal you got there. We reckon the resale on the Olympus will be good as its such a good layout. I've searched for a similar layout but cant find it.

I think it partially depends on luck, our dealer was looking at newish used caravans as well as trying to shift some 2011 models before the 2012 came out. There was also a shed load of money of our new un.
We tried another dealer and they offered us £1500 less than what we got and that was against a similarly priced van.

I have to say, the Olympus would be my favourite out of the three, knowing what you have written about what your needs are. The Highbridge price seems good to me, especially if you can sell the Ranger privately. Lady Bailey also have it on as £15,795 with no mention of a reduction for no part exchange - I've always found Lady Bailey prices good.
Highbridge arent Bailey dealers David. Have a couple of Bailey dealers within a 30 min drive. Both selling the van at £15795 with no delivery charge. OH already fussing about easiest place to buy from for the servicing/ warranty issues. He really is like an old woman .
Have sent potential private buyer an email saying how much we are prepared to accept, will await their response.

I guess you would need to be careful with Highbridge then, Rhonda?
To keep the warranty vaild, I thought the van had to be serviced by a Bailey Approved Sevice Centre/ Retailer, i.e. here. That, in itself would not be a problem - the service part is fairly flexible and can be done at any Bailey Approved Centre. In theory, warranty work can also be undertaken by any Bailey approved place that accept transient warranty. In practice thay can say no, if it is an expensive warranty claim - it's too much hastle for them. In such a case, you would have to take it back to Highbridge, who are not Bailey approved dealers/ service centre. Your sale contact is with the dealer (i.e. Highbridge), not with Bailey. Would this make things more difficult if they are not Approved Bailey Dealers? Don't know how that would work. In fact I cant quite work out why/ how Highbridge are selling new Bailey vans if they are not Bailey dealers? I thought new vans were only sold by approved dealers?? I'm confused.com! You OH may indeed be correct to be concerned and it is probably worth fully investigating all this.
After saying all that, Highbridge are a caravan dealer with much experience and have a good reputation.
Olympus dealer offered us £600 more than other dealers and thats without us trying to get some off the new van.
Can I be really cheeky and ask how much you got off the new van?
No problem 2K :)They already had them on discount so they did not budge too much on the van. However I beat them up regarding a replacement awning and got a great deal on the Ventura Atlantic.
We were kinda lucky with ours in that we bought our 2009 Adria Altea 542DK for £9,200 new and after nearly 3 years the value I have seen them go for is between £9000 and £10,000.
Just after we bought ours Adria put the prices up and they are now around £12,200 new which makes our resale higher. We have no plans to get rid as it is a wonderfull van with great build quality.
Cheers
Richard

Looks like ceramic loo in your California, Jeff! Hope you've got yourself a weight upgrade.
you'll never know how much you lose unless you sell it privately and are not pxing anything. A dealer knows for a px you'll want top dollar so he'll just put money on that instead of giving you a discount on the van. if you want to really identify how much you lose. buy without px at the best price you can get, then in 3 years or whenever you sell, sell privately, the difference is what you've lost. if you buy with a px then he may have been able to give you say £500 off the new van but instead he'll put £500 on the price of your old px. i was in the car industry and this is what we did as we knew people had unreasonable expectations of px values at times so we'd artificially inflate them with our discount allowance. hope this helps
