One member was telling another how they book up lots of sites for different weekends and then depending on the weather or their circumstances depended on which one they went to and they did not bother to cancel the others.

I think that non returnable deposits taken to stop this happening.  I find it's a shame that members are still allowed to be members for doing this.  I have complained to the club too but I did not get a reply.

There should be a system that will only allow you to book one site and unless you cancel that booking another one cannot be made.

Sorry for my little rant.

I heard a similar conversation while we were away in the summer - this lady had booked a pitch at the lovely and very popular site we were on every night from May until Sept "in case her daughter wanted it"

ARRRGGGGHHHHH! THIS IS SO UNFAIR!

I too have complained to the club. No reply here either.

Weekends are a real problem. We would like to go down to Bladon Chains on the Sat of half term week, but the site shows as full. Bet it isn't. As I am a teacher I can't take my holidays in school time!

I think deposits are the way forward as well. It would seem the club thinks otherwise, unfortunately.

It is NOT possible to book different sites for the same dates on the CC system!

You CANNOT book longer than four weeks at a CC site! [Unless you have booked a seasonal pitch]

Dave

It drives me mental the amount of selfish CC members there are out there.

I have often tried to book a site using the online system only to be told there are no spaces available for the given dates - so I ring the site and have been able to book that way.

I visited a site last year which I would use frequently and whilst at the washing up/veg prep area overheard a conversation that made me positively mad.

I hear this every year, but its always someones brothers aunts deceased cats ex-best-friends dustbin mans landlords illegitimate sons Thai brides housekeepers gardener that manages to multiple book CC sites for one weekend.

How is it done?
Has anyone on here actually been able to book more than one site for the same date using the same membership number?
Does anyone ACTUALLY KNOW someone that has done it? Again, how?

We hear the same repetitive garbage every year on how the CC should do this, should do that, blah, blah blah.

I don`t know anyone that has been able to multiple book sites on the same date, and don`t know anyone that has claimed to do so.
As you need your membership number to book a site, according to the CC this prevents you having multiple bookings on the same date. If that is incorrect, then someone has to put in print on here HOW - then I will happily admit I am wrong and have been misled.

So - its put up or shut up time!

Concur with you on that one ITS NOT POSSIBLE as the booking system does not allow site reservations to overlap .
But as you say there's always someone claiming to have done the impossible
I agree with you both, but in this case the post from Velvet Kitten was talking about booking lots of DIFFERENT weekends, presumably booking every weekend but actually using 1 in 3 or something like that. This would appear to be ok on the system and as long as they cancel in good time will not lead to any action. If it happens it is still not very considerate of other members.

That is not what I deduced reading this sentence.....

There should be a system that will only allow you to book one site and unless you cancel that booking another one cannot be made.

Sorry for my little rant.

Or does she mean we should only be able to book one site in advance?

How would that work with a touring holiday?

ive cancelled 4 or 5 weekends this year , usually with a minimum of 72 hours notice.guess im inconsiderate then ?
reasons , 2 x illness and 3 x unforeseen work commitments.
you cant always honour a booking made in advance.
its inconsiderate if you dont cancel and just dont turn up.
what more can you do if you are unable to honour your booking ??

Bev & Jon - your situation is different, you didn't make a large number of bookings never intending to take them, just "cheey pick" as in the example I quoted.

the old system let people book lots and lots    then many were cancelled   i contacted cc re this and it was confirmed     now they limit you to only a few bookings      but the popular times and sites get booked up for ever and ever   but there are still a lot who cancel late on according to the wardens    it pays to phone up and not rely on the website    i was in bladon chains over august bank holiday - and yes i did book early because of a christening - but the site was not full due to late cancellations     the web is a wnderful thing but it is also easily abused - a mon avis

Some of us cant book that far ahead,  i work nights and they are not the same each week and apart from Holidays when we usually go abroad we have to book about 2 weeks before.  the only caravan club site we have ever been able to book was Slinfold and that was 4 weeks ago,  have tried baltic wharf first week in Oct, no chance.  tried rowntree park for last week, no chance  so now just use CC for their CLs  or use independent sites or c&cc sites.  I think they should take deposits like c&cc do,  have booked Devizes for Oct no problems and they have taken £25 deposit for 3 nts again no problem because we wont be cancelling.  J x
