Hi folks
How far would you travel with your caravan for 2 nights? It always seems a rush to leave on a friday after work.
We normally go abot 60 miles as i feel by the time we get there and set up its late have the Saturday then home on the Sunday.
Does anyone else feel this is a waste of time ? I love my caravan too but not had much use since we bought our new one last year
Thanks, Angela

We tend to say an hours drive (1 1/2 at a push) for a weekend.

From J24 M1 up to N Yorks - Helmsley occasionally but generally no more than 90 minutes. However now we are masters of our destiny 2 days has turned into 3 minimum!!

It all seams too much of an effort on a Friday evening after I get home from work at about six thirty or severn too much of a rush and straight out into Friday night traffic,we take a holiday friday and Monday and make a long weekend of it.Ian

We're quite often too busy for weekend breaks (wife generally works most Sunday mornings).
Mrs G7 is happy to pitch in the next town, but I don't feel as if I've had a break unless I'm at least an hour away, so generally we'll consider 40-50 miles at most and we have a few choice sites we like to return to within our limit.------------- Paul

One night stands, 30mins max Two nighters can go a bit longer. For going the distance, a week or more, ------------- Yesterday is already a dream and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Think more in terms of time than distance, prefer around 60 mins but will go up to 2 hours for a weekend.------------- Tony C

These days we don't go further than 20miles but we have some great sites within that distance so no need to go further

We go to our favourite site at least twice a month for weekends, it's 45 minutes away, we're usually there, set up & sat down by 6pm on a friday so not too bad.
It's not just the time/distance it's the cost of diesel too that would stop us going further.

I always work on a Friday till half 6, and with OH shiftwork, there are about 6 weekends when we can actually go away, OH picks up van on the Friday and sets up on site at noon, hangs around the site till I finish work then picks me up, we stop to pick up the chinese takeaway then travel 11 miles down the road to paradise for 2 nights away from all the hustle and bustle. The furthest we have been for a 2 night stay is 21 miles.

If we just want a quick getaway weekend, we use a nice site about 45 mins away, sometimes if Hubby can get a half day we will go about 90mins drive, but for weekends that would be our limit.------------- "I'm a fool for my dogs"

we tend to go 1 to 2 hours away try and get away by 5.30 when nights are still light.
After the clocks change leave it until we can get there in daylight.

Very rarely get away for a weekend, because of our commitments. I think we would would only go if we had something specific we were going for or a special occasion to attend etc. We just make the most of all school holidays (except Christmas). We do the May Day B.H. weekend (a group of us), but tend not to go too far. Of recent years we have only gone less than 30 min. away, but we have been much further in the past.------------- David
