We love ours. We have owned it for two year now I think, it is brilliant. We have done all sorts of meals on it, from bbq's, roast dinners (makes lovely roast pots), pancakes, chilli, curry, eggy bread, cook breakfasts, the list is endless. I would suggest you get one with a lid to make it more versitile. We are now on the lookout for the paella pan and roast pan having seen them, but the price of new ones are a bit high so we will have to wait for the time being. Ours has the bbq grid, double sided griddle plate, skottle, and lid (Cadac Carri-Chef deluxe). I use a round roasting tin I had at home when roasting dinners but would like the Cadac one in the future. A friend bought theirs from here in the summer http://www.gasproducts.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?page=search&SS=cadac&ACTION=Go%21&PR=-1&TB=A it was the best deal they could find then.
We're ex cadac owners! ended up selling ours. We found that a combination of young children and a fully functional caravan oven/hob/grill meant we hardly ever used it and when we did use it we hated cleaning it! We had the carri chef deluxe and could never get it back in the carry cases. We found it was bulky and quite heavy and as we are not great bar bq 'ers it just wasnt earning its keep. We kept it for about six months and sold it as new for the same as we bought it! we got one because caravanning friends of ours raved about it,once we had one we couldnt really see what the fuss was about.
always good to add a negative reveiew to the positive ones!
we tend to use the george foreman more often than the cadac now . easier to store. lighter, cleaner and costs nothing to run off the mains.
think our cadacs days could be numbered.
We are also a bit underwhelmed with ours. A frying pan or griddle pan will do most of what it does. They may be great if you are in a tent and don't have the cooking facilities of a van. Cleaning and stowing away is also a bind.
I love ours, I always clean it after use but everytime we get back from holiday if its had a fair bit of use I always put it through the dishwasher (apart from blue gas bit of it obviously), the parts fit ina standard 60cm dishwasher.
We have had ours for about 5 years now so are thinking about investing in a new one as it has had so much use.
------------- Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Just to throw in another idea. We have a Beauclaire. It comes with a double sided (smooth and ribbed) griddle. Peaella dish, Wok, Oven kit which has a deep oven tray and wire tray like on van grill + dome lid, tongs, covers heavy duty carry bag. The griddle can be a pain to clean but have found 2 ways of cleaning.
1. Once you have finished with the griddle turn up the gas for a couple of minutes then pour drops of water on it I think this is called deglazing this will get a lot of mess off.
2. Fairy power spray works well too.
There is another option you can get a special heat resistant cover that sits on top of the griddle while cooking (similar material used on toastie bags).
You can also smoke your food too by putting wood shavings on the griddle and put fish in the grill pan then add the oven lid 10mins later smoked fish. Also Pizzas, naan bread and loads more. http://www.beauclaire.co.uk/

We bought one last year; it's a marvellous gadget - we've used it once in the back garden at home! The problem is that when we go away, we think "It's big, it's heavy", and "what if someone pinches it while we're out?", plus all the points bev&jon and brianconwy raise....

I brought one, the all signing and dancing one, the OH detested it, it's still in the garage we need to get rid/sell! In the end we got another gas BBQ which OH much prefers!
