Hi,
We are buying a used Bailey Olympus and I'm getting a bit lost with regard to what we might need. I'm happy that with most things we can get them when appropriate, however I figure that the security issues really can't wait. I apologise that this information is probably on here already, but I think I'm having information overload.
Thanks
its definetly worth buying the red alko wheel lock to reduce your insurance premiums. We saved £89 on ours. Some people find them a bind to fit but OH finds it very easy with the mover. We bought ours off ebay for alot less than the alko website (currently on offer at £159)
Which model are you buying?
We also use an alko hitchlock and the cheapest place when we shopped around was Waudbys (online)

Thanks all.
I looked at the alko lock but we need a 27 which is still £244. If that's the best then maybe we will have to bite the bullet. Are they very hard to fit?
Savanne it's a Bailey's olympus 546, we should be picking up at the weekend so are running short of time to get the bits and pieces.
I have a bailey fitted with alko receiver but i use a sold secure excaliber which fits the receiver but is easier to fit.I have been insured by 3 companies who accept it.With alko you have to have the correct one for your wheel,if you change the van in the future and it does not have the same profile wheel you will then have to buy another one, wheras the excaliber fits any aluminium wheel.Look at towsure cat no L169 £99.95.
At present with towergate baker have been with swinton and saga. If you go on online site quotes some of them show the types of receiver locks they accept, usually sold secure excaliber, alko and bulldog. excaliber is the easiest to fit and also the cheapest, but as i said excaliber will fit any aluminium wheel so once purchased no more expence if you change vans mine is now used on the second van since i bought it.Ihave had a few vans now on number 11.
Must admit we've got an alko wheel lock- great security just remember to keep the van hitched to the car if you jack it up on one side to turn the wheel to fit!! (unless you have a mover fitted after all)
We've found a great deal on the excalibur and we've gone with the aa who accept it - we could have saved 40 pounds with the alko but it's £250 without the hitch (we need the 27 that's not on offer). Will now look for a second hand alko over the next year ready for our renewal.
Thanks all.
i have 1 Alko wheel lock and i have 1 Bulldog max wheel lock wich i think is a superior product , but they wouldnt give me a discount unless i had 2 Alko locks , i said single axles only need 1 wheel lock , so why does my single Alko not count , she said some one can take the wheel off and tow it away on 3 wheels , so i said my Bulldog will be on the other wheel , the reply was it does not count , so gave up
joecroft2,I would of asked them if a thief is going to remove one alko to tow away surely they will remove the two and if they got the locks off why would they want to remove the wheel.
