I have driven all the way to Muir Kirk from Nottingham with my caravan. And back again. My only frightening time was being in a rolling road block surrounded by big lorries.

The 2 in front of me were going slower and slower, I indicated and pulled out just in time for the lorry in front of me to move out. His place was taken up by another one, but the one behind him moved to overtake too. So there I am in the middle lane 1 lorry in front, 1 lorry at the side and 1 lorry behind. Then the frightener, I can feel the suck of the lorry to my nearside pulling me over. I managed it but it was a bit hairy and I think the lorry driver was worried too cos he pipped me on his hooter.

Experience for the next time when I go see my grandson again - because I am not worried about going again.

When I have sorted pictures of the site I will post them. By the way Muir Kirk site was lovely, very clean quiet site.

Karen

Good for you, I think the first 10-20 minutes are the most nerve racking but then you get used to it. As long as you are loaded correctly and stick to whatever speed the road conditions dictate you should be fine. Last year I had a bit of a baptisim of fire and had to tow slowly over the Forth road bridge  - that was also very hairy. I found the empty transporters where the worst culprits for dragging me.

Glad you gotto see your grandson.

Its the best thing that can happen to you having a slight scare. I nearly turned a van over going down hill on my 2nd or 3rd short trip I was lucky the ratio was below 85%.

I took the cc towing course which was given by a member who had been a traffic officer for 20 years and helped me a lot.

Do you mean Muirkirk in East Ayrshire, if so, well done, not the easiest places to get to, even for a local.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Yes Muir Kirk Caravan Park on Furnace Road, Annette was lovely - Very accommodating. I found it on the Search after Stathclyde told me they were closing early.

After an afternoon at McDs amusement arcade we were glad actually. Muir kirk is more countryside stylee, Strathclyde is sort of inner city.
