I'm so mad !!

I was really looking forward to this weekend away,it was probably the last weekend we would be able to get away this year because my OH is going into hospital for a tripple heart bypass later this month ....

 All was set, we booked a couple of weeks ago & could'nt believe are luck when the weather  forecast looked sunny ...

We arrived on site at 3ish on Sat afternoon for a two night stay only to find they had over booked, five units already on site one more to arrive & us !

So we had to turn round & quickly find another site, not easy on probably the sunniest weekend of the year it was 6o'clock before we managed to find somwhere else .... not an easy task when you are in a strange area plus towing a caravan

We have stayed mostly on CLs & never had this happen before! 

 I am still very upset  ... Has any one else not been able to get on a site that they had booked ?

agree did they offer you compensation for your lost holiday and petrol money ?

There could be all sorts of reasons why they were over booked.Someone could have been ill and unable to travel, someone could have had car troubles which prevented moving on or of course they did it deliberately!  Its something you need to take up with the Club or you could always write a review of the Club website stating there were too many units.

I am sure its the last thing you need to be worrying about right now and best wishes to your husband for his Op.

May be they have but we have been once before ... if they do have a problem then they should ask for a deposit  ...

I think they saw £notes ... the pitch which we were suppose to booked in, their daughter said that the people in that spot were there for a week or so ... three others were friends one of which was about to arrive, another couple were on the grass hooked up to the house !! & another caravan ... we were told we could pitch on the grass without HU & move the following day as most were going Sunday but that for us was not an option as we are not really geared up for no HU & we have two dogs so use an awning, it's enough putting it up once never mind twice in two days !

The only sanction the Caravan Club have is to remove them from the Network amd I expect they only do that after several complaints so rather than name the CL here it would be far better to contact the Club.

Defiantly report the CL to the caravan club - it’s just not fair on people who book and turn up to find they haven't got what they booked and it gives everyone a bad name.

Hope the operation goes well.

Its actually this point which is more important than the fact that there were technically too many units. I suspect its the letting people down aspect which would influence the Club to take some action.

Hi out+about-1, Report it. When I book a site on line, I print off the confirmation of booking, it has the date and time of your booking, the type of pitch booked, and should correspond to the sites register’s computer, if any dispute over pitch check it against site register, first booked first allocated.

Hard to find sites in area: sat nav’s are quite good for that if you have one, and have put in caravan sites in the POI’s,  

Had by-pass myself a few years ago, can’t lift heavy objects, push or pull van, get a bit out of breath winding down steadies, sorted now Mover fitted and drill for steadies. Six weeks after mine I had mover fitted and Two weeks after that was on site, needed the holiday.
