We have the option of having one of these on our new van, like the fact its 12 kg lighter than the powertouch. We had a HD powertouch on our recently sold Bailey and were very pleased with it. The Powertouch appeals again due to the 5 yr warranty (think the Reich is a 3yr warranty) and the fact it can be fixed on the drive if needs be and we can get it supplied and fitted for £825.
If we go for a Reich does anyone know if it has to be taken back to the dealer for repairs or can work be done at home like the Powertouch?
Lastly, anyone got a Reich mover and how do you find it?

We had a Reich Comfort on our 1700 kg ,year 2002 van and it was excellent. I had to replace one roller's worn plastic bearing but that job was easy and Reich gave me a pair of bearing free of charge. The other side bearing never failed nor had the replaced one when I sold the van.
In 2008 we changed to a 1900 kg van and because of the extra weight were recommended to have a Powrtouch HD, this has also been good.
All things being equal, then between these two I would without doubt pick the Reich as it was a better engineered design, used good British made motor/gearbox units and stows these motors well inboard in less spray.
But having said that I believe other than in the "cheap" offering where there may be question marks, all the principal players make good movers.
Works every time; Easy to use remote (apart from the on switch - see below); Throws our 1570Kg around with ease; You can control the amount of movement to about half an inch (if that) which can be very useful if you use it to hitch up;
Bad points
need to take into account its 33Kg weight when working out just what you can carry;
Has to be wound on to the wheel by hand and it can take some effort to get it properly on to the wheel. When the wife does it it the roller can slip if the van is going over a bump or slightly up hill as she can't always get it fully on
The switch to turn it on is in an awkward place under a front bench. Means taking the cushions off and having to get in and out of the van to switch on and off. Why not just put the switch in the battery box? Maybe this is just down to how my local dealer fitted it. Ask your chaps just where the switch will be and think about whether that is as easy as it could be.
To operate the remote you have to press the on button twice quickly. Does not always catch. To know it is on the on button lights up but I usually can't see it lit on a sunny day - constantly having to shove it up my jumper to see if it on!!
The good points outweigh the bad in my mind.
Never had to have anyone out to it, but if it does go wrong I need to take it back to the dealer.

thanks for the replies. The Reich we can have is a move control economy. Think we're going to buy the van without a mover and have the Powertouch fitted on the drive.

Unless someone knows differently, a mover is a mover is a mover. All much the same apart from price and service

phil,they did mine like this and i left it in situ and put another switch inside the battery box.not hard to do.the hole size for the new switch was 7/8 inch or 22.2 mm (red isolator switch with key ).using the wires from starter cables and eyelets.( radio shop supply due to size required ) right pain climbing over all the bikes and awnings before to switch on and off.plus the fact IF it did go wrong you would not have time to get inside to turn off.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Thanks Michael, but when it comes to stuff like this I tend to call in the folks who know what they are doing and also work on the principle that if anything affects my warranty let it be someone else's fault.... like the dealer. I'll stick to the law and leave the sparks and gas to other experts. ....What do you mean "chicken"!!?
Anyway, I have developed a new system...the wife stands in the van and operates the switch and stays in the van till I have finished playing with the toys....

We have a Reich mover and its totally brilliant - we are really pleased with it - quick and responsive and easy to use. Im sure I read somewhere that its the only mover with European wide service network should something go wrong abroad. Our key/switch wotsit is in the battery box.
We also have a Reich mover and are very pleased with it, no having to lift the front bench cushions for us either, as our power switch is contained within the battery box, and situated under the mains EHU inlet, which is a very handy reminder not to try and use the mover whilst the van is connected to the mains, as this would blow the fuses and require a re-set.
For those who struggle with the manual wind-on of the Reich, they also do a fully auto add-on kit, something we are considering for when OH and I can no longer manage to do this task, as we both suffer from arthritis and the problems of growing old lol!
Its always been our dealer whos serviced and answered our quieries on our mover, as they are quite local, but i believe if we really became stuck on the drive with it then our Mayday top of the range policy would cover us for a recovery to the dealer, or so they told me when they sold us the policy.

Good choice. We have a good story about great service from Reich UK.
Ours stopped working during our summer trip to France this year. It had been playing up intermittently before we left and we were advised by Midland Motor Movers that it needed resetting. An easy job that seemed to have worked.
Our mover is the Move Control Comfort and is 3 years old. Fortunately, we had taken the contact information for Reich and with one phone call, they immediately sent a replacement control unit and handset. This arrived at the campsite, near Marseilles, by courier 48 hours later. Replacing the unit under the seat was easy, needing only a screwdriver and size 12 spanner after disconnecting the battery.
Full marks to Reich for replacing this so promptly.
thants good to know keith as we go to France every year. The dealer we are buying the van did tell us that Reich would fix problems abroad which is just brilliant.
